Coronavirus

I like how his "Look at my little cute anecdote" store full with stupid "Like a little butler" nonsense also broke his quarantine rules.  I can't go see my parents but you can go have get out-negotiated by an 8 year old.

If his party gets a single vote in the upcoming election it will be 10 too many.

fingers crossed for even better performance in the future.

The daily amount of 2nd doses started to increase significantly around May 19th. In the 16 days period to that, the daily average was around 4,200.

Since then it's been around 24,600, with a high of almost 54,000 yesterday.

Don't think it's at all unreasonable to think we'll soar past the U.S. and U.K. in 2nd doses by the end of the summer too.

And I bet nobody thought that a month or so ago. I def didn't. Great news.

This isn't a dig at you, but the people who report on this. All the numbers to project this were available from government websites. Scheduled deliveries, daily injection figures, etc. are all there.

I have a spreadsheet that I've been using to track and project vaccinations, its been pretty accurate in predicting where we are right now.

Yeah, this was always the strategy. The Federal government had a choice of getting a smaller amount of vaccines sooner or a greater amount later. This was always the plan. When Ford disastrously decided to re-open in February, people were shouting that this was the plan and we needed more patience for the vaccines to get here.

The only thing that has really shown variability in those numbers has been whether the vaccines would actually arrive.  It really isn't surprising that after the US started getting around 50% vaccination that we were going to see more vaccine coming from the US because they have a stupidly large percentage of their population who are willfully ignorant.  The only question was when those vaccines would start to come up across the border.

There are problems with how the implementation of the vaccine have gone (a provincial issue). There are problems with what the implications of hitting vaccines targets allow in terms of activity restrictions (a provincial issue).  There are problems with logging and tracking vaccination to update primary care (a provincial issue).

But the pattern to get vaccine was expected.  Canada didn't sacrifice a massive amount of personal health information like a country like Israel did to get earlier vaccines.  I can respect that.

Thought you would like to know, I received an email in my name directly from Bonnie Henry herself.  She reassured me as of Monday June 7th that I can choose to have an AZ shot at the pharmacy I went to the first time (Fresh Co.) or go to the Community centre and choose either the Pfizer or Moderno shot.
WOW, I didn't know she cared for me so much!

Seriously, what would be LK's opinion on the 2nd shot?  Do you think mixing things up going with a Mrna shot would be better than continuing with AZ?  Appreciate any advice on this.

Honestly I?m going to be short and sweet.

In March/April when vaccine availability was the limiting factor getting AZ was the right choice.  Pfizer/Moderna are superior vaccines.  The early data looks very encouraging for getting Pfizer/Moderna as the second dose.  Unless we run into a scenario where the vaccine supply suddenly tanked I would go for mRNA for your second shot.

I still support the use of the AZ vaccine and if you feel more comfortable getting it as your second dose you will still be well protected but the response from the mRNA vaccines appears to be extremely robust

Got my 1st shot today (Pfizer). woohoo!

My shoulder feels like it was shot with a handgun. Normally I only get a tiny bit of soreness from a vaccine, but this is pretty intense. Should be good in a day or two!

You'll be good. Enjoy the sleep because I was pretty tired soon after!

Feeling good today! The more I move my arm, the better it feels. No tiredness (well, not vaccine-related, I did stay up until 2:00 watching TV and destroying young teenagers in NHL 20).

bad news is: because I'm feeling just fine, I couldn't get out of doing work, so the wife is making me change the rear shocks on her van in the driveway in the heat and stupid humidity. I am now covered in dirt and WD40
