Game 8: Bruins @ Leafs 7:00PM Saturday on CBC

Does anyone else think Kadri plays so much better as a center?  What was Wilson thinking to ever put him on wing?

He's a smaller guy and it's not unusual to break rookies in on the wing and then shift them to their natural position down the middle. It wasn't a bad thought, it just wasn't one that worked out.

Ok guys what do I have to add to the OP to make this a proper game day thread?

If the game tonight results in a Leaf loss, I am squarely putting the blame on this shite of a game day thread.  My minimalistic approach resulted in 2 Leaf wins.  Carry on.

I agree, we shoudn't break GDT streaks! We all know that they win because of the GDT!

I've never been a fan of this concept. I think to maximize success, you need to put players in positions they're accustomed too, particularly at the NHL level. If they wanted to convert him to winger, he should have played wing in the AHL. I don't think being smaller has much to do with it. The wingers get a pretty good pounding in the corners.

I always thought it was a mistake putting Antropov as a winger and that he should have been given every opportunity to develop at centre.

Bruins just seem to have the Leafs number, or so it seems anyway.

Hopeful for a win, Go Leafs Go!

Please score Kessel...

I think the only exception I'd make to what you're saying here, and you see it a bit with guys like JVR and Kessel who were centres before they were drafted, is that a lot of times in junior hockey and high school/college hockey in the states the most talented players get put at centre regardless of whether or not it's really the best fit for them.

So there does need to be some evaluation at the NHL level to see if centres early on should be moved to a wing and I do think, for what it's worth, that there's a lot of guys who are fully capable of excelling in either role.

Maybe we caught the Bruins at a good time minus Thornton and all. Hopefully, instead of being completely pushed around, we can do a little pushing back.

OMG dude you have bad karma!  Grow some hair, put your hand down, and give your head a shake!

That's a good point Nik, about the position. I think the position should more or less be set by the time they reach pro level though. Versatility is obviously good though, so it is nice to know they where they can play.

Chris Johnston says McLaren will play today and Jonas Siegel says it's unclear if McLaren plays today.

Yeah, I know but it sure sounds like he's in.  :-\

@mirtle
Carlyle says "We didn't take him on waivers to sit him in the stands" on McLaren. So sounds like he's in.
