Sometimes I wonder if his race is a factor in the perception, E. Kane and Subban seem to face the same kind of criticism.
It's possible, but Patrick Kane and Tyler Seguin also received similar treatment over "off-ice" issues.
As did Mike Richards and his buddies in Philly (Carter, Lupul, Upshall). They got a bad rap for being known as the Legion of Poon in their day.
