Meh, his opinion means next to nothing to me.  He meddled with upper management when he was a player so talking about things not being about himself seems a little bit pot calling the kettle black.

Agreed - Domi should be the last guy making comments on other players character. As Torts would put it -"What Tie needs to do is shut-up"

Domi should shaddup.... exactly.... Domi only shows character when the cameras are on. Otherwise.... hes a knob.... he sold me on that when he snubbed a bunch of 9 year olds... a whole team of em ... if he reads this, he knnows its true... Mimico arena..... asshat... Tie is about Tie, make no mistake

He might not have the greatest reputation but I don't think it cheapens what he says - it's all pretty true.

I don't know that there's anything being said there of value. Social media? Kadri in interviews? And if Domi thinks that the people watching him think his Leafs team gave it their all on every shift, well, I've got news for him.

I agree with him about the deadline stuff but the rest of it is just more of the same self-serving nonsense that he's always been about.

Don't know if Dion Phaneuf is a good captain. But everytime he dons Red Bull hat for an interview, he's putting himself ahead of his team.

Thats the same crap Darcy Tucker used to pull with his personal deals. Leaf players doing interviews should be wearing Leaf caps or nothing.

Not that I think it's a big deal but that's true.

And honestly, couldn't you make the same argument with whatever sticks or skates players wear?  They have endorsement deals and put those names front and center, so getting on Phaneuf for his cap is just Cox saying something to hear himself talk.  I used to enjoy his column but he's turned into Berger 2.0.

No. The Leafs don't make and market sticks and skates. There is no stick or skate a player could wear that would promote the Leafs brand.

?

Do they make money off the hats?

No, wasn't the complaint about Red Bull hat wearing or some such?

Right. So are you asking if Red Bull makes money selling Red Bull hats? Again, if such a thing exists I'd assume so but the issue with the hat, I'm guessing, is more that it's providing advertising for Red Bull.

No, the question for me is whether Dion makes money off that hat, otherwise what's the point?

I don't know if it's as simple as him getting X number of dollars every time he wears the hat in an interview but Red Bull pays him, Phaneuf wants to keep them happy as their pitchman so directly or indirectly the answer is yes.

Wouldn't an endorsement for sticks and skates work like that too?
