Interesting read and it does jive with the impression I think many of us had even during the hot start that there were still plenty of flaws in their game even though everything seemed to be going in at the other end. 

It was summed up as 'outscoring our problems' but it seems that was partly based on luck which was bound to dry up, and dry up it has.

On the other hand, I'm not sure I totally agree about shooting percentages being completely luck and always trending towards a certain value.  Skilled guys, either because they find open ice or have deadly shots even in traffic, should have better shooting percentages.

Watching this Tampa game and seeing what Stamkos has done this year (again) I'm pretty sure I still would have offer-sheeted him for the league max. last summer.

Absolutely they would have matched. There was no offer sheet that would have plied Stamkos out of Tampa Bay.

Absolutely they would have matched. There was no offer sheet that would have plied Stamkos out of Tampa Bay.

I don't think I'd offer that to anyone not named Crosby, and now with his concussion issues I wouldn't even offer him that.

See, I think because of Crosby's issues, the 3 best players in the game (in no particular order) are Datsyuk, Malkin, and Stamkos. Because of his age, Datsyuk wouldn't get a ton of term from me but in my mind, I'd give that kind of deal to Stamkos or Malkin... No problem... Especially Stamkos.

I think Stamkos is in that territory. He's also been the healthiest (so far) of the bunch.

I just went through the Leafs record this year and I see that in the second night of back to back games they are 4-10-1. The four wins came against CBJ, NYI (2x) and EDM.

Conditioning? Leadership?
