I just went through the Leafs record this year and I see that in the second night of back to back games they are 4-10-1. The four wins came against CBJ, NYI (2x) and EDM.

Conditioning? Leadership?

1st in the NHL St. Louis are 6-7-1 in the second half of back-to-backs.  I think it has far less to do with conditioning, and more to do with talent of the team.

They are 40-12-7 in games that aren't the second of a back-to-back.

2-2, let's go!

Optimistically they can take the Carolina game and one of the Buffalo games at home.

I wouldn't count on one of the Buffalo games unless Buffalo is out of the race at that point.  If they have a shot at 8th they'll be going all out for the win.

Just chatting with a colleague who just raised a point I hadn't previously considered when trying to explain the epic flame-out.... He wondered if at some point this off-season, rumors (maybe based on some truth) will surface regarding a major rift in the room.  :-\ Obviously we have no way of knowing right now but it's at least something to consider watching out for this spring/summer.

Baseless speculation on the possibility of rumours of a possible dressing room rift.

Go Leafs Go!

They went on a stretch where they lost 15 of 17, man! I mean, feel free to bring in to question my team spirit but I'm inclined to think this disaster had something more to do than Ron Wilson or Ka-poho-i-kahi-ola - The ancient spirit of explosions and flame-outs.

Of the 240 games since the Leafs signed Komisarek, he has played in 150.

What a horrific signing, I'd wager at least 60/70 of the 90 he has missed have been as a healthy scratch. That's almost a full season of paying him to sit in the press box and count towards the cap.  A buyout might be a better option this summer.

He has missed 76 games due to injury, 15 healthy.

The 15 healthy all came this season, 11 in February.

Pssst.... next time, take the wager before bringing up the numbers.

Tie Domi in the Star today:

http://www.thestar.com/sports/leafs/article/1152877--feschuk-maple-leafs-futility-eats-at-former-tough-guy-tie-domi

?Nothing eats at me more inside than these guys not doing well,? Domi said. ?When I sat down, it was a weird feeling. There was no atmosphere in the place. And I know why there?s no atmosphere. They?re out of the playoffs again. There?s nothing on the line. They haven?t made the playoffs for how long now??

?I played in every one of those playoff games like it was my last,? Domi said, pounding his chest with a big fist for emphasis. ?I just don?t see that every shift from this team. I don?t see every guy playing hard every shift. They?ve got to start getting accountability in the room.?

He also expressed faith in Leafs head coach Randy Carlyle, with whom Domi played in Winnipeg in the early 1990s.

?He?ll make guys accountable. It doesn?t matter who you are ? he?ll make you accountable,? Domi said.

On dealing with trade rumours: ?Complain about the trade deadline? That?s part of professional sports. That?s why you make so much money. Like, who cares? Don?t listen to it. Don?t even address it. It was driving me crazy seeing guys getting interviews addressing what they were going through.?

On social media: ?Twitter anything about our team ? you should be fined. My son is on the social media, but he?s 16. It?s different. But up here (in the NHL), you?re getting paid big dollars. Big dollars. Don?t take it for granted, because it doesn?t last forever. It doesn?t last forever in this city. This city?s seen a lot of guys come and go that couldn?t handle the pressure.?

On dealing with the media: ?Nazem Kadri can play. But when I saw Kadri?s first few interviews, I was like, ?Is this for real?? I couldn?t believe it. (Veteran players have) got to guide a kid. The first time he did it, some older guys should have taken him for lunch and said, ?Hey, this is how it?s done. . . . You?ve got to talk about the team, not ?me? or ?I.??

On what needs to happen internally: ?Stop saying it?s the GM. Stop saying it?s the coach. Step up, core guys. Figure it out.?

On playoffs:
?It?s incredible. The whole city feels it, lives it. If these guys find a way to get into the playoffs next year, it?s an atmosphere they?ll remember for the rest of their lives,? Domi said. ?The playoff atmosphere in this city? You can?t imagine.?

I've been watching the Leafs since about 89... and honestly, I don't think I've ever seen a team collapse the way this one did... they were pretty much in the playoffs all season then the bottom just fell out...

Admittedly, I've barely watched the team this year, so other than reading what's going on here, I'm not sure what the deal with this team is....

Didn't you say last year you didn't watch the team either>?

Joe what's going on man!  You used to be one of the good guys!  I even remember how you proposed (roses on the bed).... is that weird of me?

Thanks for doing the research Deebo.

I wonder how much of it was injury and how much of it was "injury".  I'd also be curious to know how much cap relief we received during those.

Alas we shall never know.

Meh, his opinion means next to nothing to me.  He meddled with upper management when he was a player so talking about things not being about himself seems a little bit pot calling the kettle black.

I'd say each of the last 3 seasons my viewership has gone down. Honest to god I've watched maybe 5 full games this season.

Alot of it has to do with kids - games are on during the whole homework/bedtime routine, and by the time that's done there are so many other things I'd rather watch...

I really think it'll take the playoffs to get me to care again... these pointless seasons are a waste of my time - so I choose not to waste my time! If that even makes sense...

And the proposal still stands... you have my heart, you just need to say yes... !

Agreed - Domi should be the last guy making comments on other players character. As Torts would put it -"What Tie needs to do is shut-up"
