Anybody else see that tweet about management being irate that Kessel wouldn't waive his no trade to go to Arizona for the 3rd overall?  Someone else showed it to me.  I don't have twitter.

Not seeing anything from anyone who I consider reliable.

I searched "irate" and "Kessel" and found the tweet. It's from a Rick Vaive parody account.

So fake Rick Vaive is not a reliable source on twitter?  You sure?

Unless there is a deal that allows the Leafs to make another pick tonight, I'm perfectly content with the Leafs taking their sweet ass time in any possible Kessel move.

Real_ESPNLeBrun: Leafs have firm offers on the table for Phil Kessel, expect to get more on the draft floor this evening. (con't)

Real_ESPNLeBrun: But Leafs don't feel it's a must to move him this weekend. Next week could be just as good a window. Will only do it if deal is right

Real_ESPNLeBrun: Leafs also getting lots of action on 24th overall pick. Sorting thru options

Interesting.  How could the offers change after the draft?  Could they go back to the teams that have deals on the table right now and say "Give me the guy you drafted in the first round?"

Also, they have to clear this with Kessel too.  He has to waive his no trade.  That doesn't leave a lot of time to make the deal on the floor unless the team is on his list.

They probably already know which teams Kessel will absolutely say no to, and he's said he'll go wherever the Leafs want him to go, so, getting him to waive is not likely much of an issue. All that takes is a phone call.

As for deals changing . . . there'd be players/prospects/future picks subbed in for any picks in this year's draft, yeah. I'm sure the Leafs have will discuss frameworks for those types of deals with teams that have presented intriguing enough offers. It could be the guys those teams just drafted or it could be prospects already in their system that they'd now feel a little more open to moving after bringing in a fresh set of draftees.

If Lucic is worth a 1st rounder this year, Kessel has to be worth more, right?

Kessel as a Leaf... not worth a damn thing... Kessel as a Bruin... 2 first round picks and a 2nd!!!

It's a term issue with Kessel.  It's a much longer commitment that carries more risk and less salary cap flexibility.

You likely right about that, but what's funny is that any team that would have traded for Lucic (LA in this case of course) is doing so with the intention of re-signing him I'm guessing. And he's likely going to command something like $6.5-7mil on a long-term deal. Is that a better contract than what Kessel currently has? I don't think so.

Kessel and Crosby could be amazing.  Or it could be a flop as both like to carry the puck.

Rob Rossi during his interview with leafs lunch has said kessel would be playing with malkin. I guess perron is crosbys guy.

It's good to have friends.  Poor Tyler Bozak if this deal goes down.
