mirtle: Heard that the Leafs asking price for Jake Gardiner was "a ****load." So Nonis won't be selling low, I guess.

Good.

As it should be. Too many people are quick to make the leap from "So and so is being shopped" to "The team is willing to deal so and so regardless of what the return is".

well to be fair it's been such a long time since this team has had an asset that it could ask a lot for that some of us are unfamiliar with the concept :)

I don't know, it came up pretty regularly when people talked this off-season about potentially moving guys like Kessel or Franson.

Gardiner and Bozak for Stamkos.

You heard it here first.

I have no clue on the cap implications of such a move either.

I don't think anyone needs to concern themselves with the cap implications for that specific deal.  ;)

Stamkos will sign here as a UFA, don't have to trade for him now. Just make sure you keep the cap space open for that July.

So he's taking Rick Nash's spot that has been vacant for a few years now, right?

Yes, only Steven will actually show. You can hate me then if it doesn't happen.

Can't they just buy out Clarkson's contract to make room?

There is a lot of talk about Gardiner getting a bridge contract, but I really hope they sign him to a long term deal. I have a feeling he will have a great season, and they may regret having to pay him more next season than they can right now.

Let's hope they get him signed to a 5 yr deal soon!
