Komarov - Leafs Most Interesting Man

He had to know when he first came over that his NHL salary was never, ever, going to match what he could make in the KHL. So either he wanted to come over for a season just to prove to himself that he could, or he wants to play in the best league in the world on a long-term basis. If it's the former then so be it, but his leaving shouldn't be seen as him just chasing the dollars.

Whatever. He probably wouldn't last much longer anyway playing the style of game he does.

Yeah, I mean he's a half decent pest but he really doesn't seem to have the skill to put up points.

Clarkson can replace him easily, but with more skill.

This sounds like signing Darcy Tucker to his last Leafs contract again -- and without the sentimental reasons to lead us to such folly.

My sentiments exactly.  Assuming this is correct, will the KHL lavish him with a big $ contract?  Is the thrill of playing first line minutes there that much better than playing decent third line minutes in the world's best league?

One other thing: I like Komarov and hope he stays.  But this seemingly constant back and forth between the KHL and NHL strikes as a bit too drama filled for a good, but not great, player.

IgorEronko: #MapleLeafs F Leo Komarov signed 1-year contract with #Dynamo of #KHL per Sport-Express, still no word from club execs

So, still to be taken with a grain of salt, but, looking more likely.

[Sarcasm]  Wow, I don't know how the Leafs can replace a 4th line winger who hits but has no offensive upside that was probably wanting $1 MIL or more.  Small 4th liners born in the 80's that can't score are the hardest players to find in the NHL.  [/sarcasm]

I'll admit that I was starting to like Komarov's passion towards the end of the season and playoffs but for an extra MIL you could get Matt Cooke who will be a pest AND score some goals.

If this is true, I will miss him.  He hit everything in sight.  He can play on my fourth line wing anytime.

However, I don't blame him for leaving for going home, for more money,  and for ultimately a better role in terms of positioning within the team (will he truly be a top 6 guy in the KHL?  Wow!).

I get what you're saying, Bulldog, but I think you've marginalized Komarov's abilities.  He has a decent set of hands and, while his finishing isn't great, I thought he sees the ice well and distributes the puck nicely.  He's a good third liner, in my opinion, and was one of the better penalty killers on the squad.  Always sucks to lose an asset for nothing.
