Komarov - Leafs Most Interesting Man

not for nothing but who does he think he is? He was a nice gritty 4th liner who did hit everything in sight but had hands of stone..I think what will be missed most was his ability to draw penalties without taking them. Thats hard to find. But I don't think he warranted a raise.

Man, some of you are quick to turn on a guy. He played well, hit people, killed penalties...the NHL just might not be where he wants to spend his time? Maybe, I don't know, the thing to say is thanks and good luck?

I'm pretty sure he thinks he's a professional hockey player who is looking to maximize his earning potential while trying to find the right balance between doing what's right for his career, his personal life and his family/loved ones.

Similar free agents who could replace Komarov in the bottom 6:

David Clarkson
Matt Cooke
Raffi Torres
Chad Larose
Ryan Jones
Drew Miller
Matt Hendricks
Tom Kostopolous

Yup!

Well....Except for Clarkson who is going to want  $3.5 + MIL a year and will score around 20 goals.

Jerry D?Amigo anyone?
Most reliable penalty killer on Marlies, actually bigger than Komarov, although he is not throwing hits that much

That is the first player I thought of.  One of the Leafs own draft picks.

He fills the PK role, but he would be the kinder, gentler version of Komarov. He's not a very physical player.

You are right, however he may have a beter finishing touch and at least on AHL level he has excelled in the playoffs and his role on the team increased.

What the world needs now is love, sweet love.

Hopefully he shows something at training camp. Absolutely loved

Komarov's ability to agitate without taking penalties though. I wish him thanks and good luck.

SovSport reports Komarov refused to confirm signing w/Dynamo. 'I don't know if I'm gonna come over. I can't talk about it' (c) #Leafs #KHL

I think he's an underrated loss to the team.  He doesn't provide anything offensively but he was a good defensive player, killed penalties well and drove a lot of very good players insane with his forechecking and finished checks.  There isn't another player on the team remotely like him and I think it's a big blow to the toughness of what is still a rather small team.

I think it's an even bigger blow from the standpoint that it probably increases the likelihood of a McLaren-McClement/UFA-Orr 4th line.

I'm just glad that he came over for a season and gave the NHL a shot. I don't think he ever really thought he would spend the rest of his career in North America. He came over, proved he could play here, and that was enough for him.
