I really like the Legwand idea. My only concern is I really think Holland is ready to take over the 3rd line role full-time and I don't really want to see him relegated to the fourth.

I think it would be okay if the 4th line was given actual minutes like many teams in the league do.

That's a good point. I'm so accustomed to the 4th line being simply bench-warmers.

I don't have time to go through every team, but the Rangers are one I know off the top of my head and their 4th line played about 10:00/game at even-strength.

Obviously no sexy names were signed, but if the Leafs do bring in Legwand, I will give management credit for improving the bottom six forwards over last year's mess.

A potential line of Komarov-Legwand-Frattin is something that could be lived with.

Legwand?

Whatever you guys are smoking you wanna pass it over here!

Seriously the guy I'm not sure has it anymore,
And totally invisible against us last year.

I'd give a young guy a shot Lievo?

Remember always a surprise every preseason.

That is a good deal for Ottawa.  I'd prefer him over Komarov.  Same price; shorter term.

Very different skill sets there though and a decent age gap. Legwand likely wouldn't have seen as much PP time as he had last year and it's likely that Komarov is patrolling the wing instead of centre.

I disagree komorov has a more important role on this
Team,
Which isn't always measured in numbers.x(stats)

Remember how he played against boston?

He brings way more intangibles
That were sorely lacking last year.

Who knows Legwand may bounce back
But I like Komerov.

Key here is using all 4 lines,
I've been saying internally forever. :)

Nonis I heard him say same finally!

Orr & mclaren ahem
move along
press box needs gophers.

I like the line up. IMO Gardiner has not shown that he is worth 4mil a season, 2.5 mil maybe.

I think he is though on a long term deal. He's definitely a top 4 defenseman and trending upwards, so 4 million over a 5-7 year deal is a bargain IMO for the Leafs.

Dan Rosen mentioned this on Twitter, but it's pretty surprising no one has signed Del Zotto.  He had a bad year, but he was coming off 2 years of 0.53 and 0.46 PPG respectively and is only 24.

Maybe if you trade Franson you can scoop Del Zotto up cheaply?  3 years younger and similar PPG, doubt you'd lose much defensively, all you'd really be losing is the RH shot compared to the LH.

we are short Ld players now. we have 2 extra Rd players compared to our LD , since phaneuf prefers Rd. maybe we should also keep ranger , trade franson

Maybe I am the only one, but I would prefer Ranger or Franson any day of the week. Franson is defensively flawed.

Because Ranger was a stalwart!

There has to be something up with Del Zotto, maybe to do with off ice issues or something.  No way a guy like him goes from what he was a very short time ago to being dumped on the UFA market and still not signed.

No he was not. At 1 mil a season, he was 10 x better then Franson defensively.
