Oh, I know, but, it's still curious. If they were part of the Carlo deal, it would have impacted the acquisition cost. If they just go straight to Pittsburgh, the Leafs might actually be getting something (minor, but something) back.
 
Timmins and Dewar are both NHL players so it's not unreasonable for Pittsburgh to add guys that Dubas likes. I could see both being productive there. They sold players at the deadline but they didn't tear it down so the mandate still appears to be keep it going until Sidney says goodbye

I'm guessing they get nothing in return, just needed the cap space. I think I said this even before today but I doubt the Leafs would have even qualified Dewar or Timmins this offseason.
 
Pens can also put both on waivers and lose/bury their contracts so not a big deal really. Timmins is a serviceable D man. Dewar is a nothing for me but could have some value as a 4th liner.
