Please note the times.

That's hilarious, if you don't get his tweets, how was he able to read it and respond within 1 minute.

Seriously. It makes no sense. I would have loved to see Wilson call him on that.

Why get into mud slinging on Twitter with Simmons of all people?  Wilson is a bona fide NHL coach while Simmons is considered *at best* a tabloid-like sports reporter.  I have never found someone who actually has anything good to say about Simmons as a journalist.

No tweet to pass along right now but as I browse, I can't help but notice all the exchanges between the Maple Leaf and Blue Jay players. I think its neat how a lot of these guys seem to have formed friendships.

... and to my point, Ricky Romero and family were at tonight's game in Anaheim. Some pics on twitter of him and Bozak.

I noticed it really started going off when the Leafs took batting practice with the Jays prior to the start of the regular season.

They call themselves #teamunit and it's leafs like Bozak, Armstrong, Caputi, even Kessel and Jays like Romero, Lawrie and Arencibia.

It's kinda neat to see how much they interact and actually follow each others games (well, Leaf games considering that's all that's going on right now).

Haha... I have no idea who she is but;

I'd buy one!

Edit: Looks like they exist (though outdated now.) I wonder if they will make them available to the public. I think they'd sell pretty well.

I love the quote about the liars in sports. Many gainfully employed in the media.

For anyone that does not know. Here is a little perspective going back to Saturday night when Damian decided to have a hissy fit about Wilson not telling him about who was playing net. Here are some posts on Twitter (I believe they are called tweets... ugh) from oldest to newest this morning. This starts on Saturday during the game:

Leafs mislead media, then are astonished when we go find other sources for information. This strategy didn't work for JP Riccardi, either.

DamoSpinDamien Cox
People in sports believe its not lying when done for strategic reasons.

DamoSpinDamien Cox
Poor Claude Julien. Now has to scrap entire game plan bc Wilson successfully cloaked identity of TOR starting goalie:)

DamoSpinDamien Cox
Three years missing the playoffs and the genius still thinks he's smarter than the rest.

DamoSpinDamien Cox
Hmmmm. Wonder why nobody believed the Leafs when they say Reimer didn't have a concussion....or when say their coach isn't going anywhere...

DamoSpinDamien Cox
Its always amusing how the liars in sport are always the ones preaching abt "character"

DamoSpinDamien Cox
Been a good afternoon blocking Leaf koolaid drinkers.

DamoSpinDamien Cox
Ahh, the brilliance of Ron Wilson's deception is so very clear now. What great coaching.

DamoSpinDamien Cox
As a franchise, top to bottom, Leafs are consumed - and distracted - by trying to out-maneuver the media. Shud focus more on winning games.

DamoSpinDamien Cox
"We keep playing like this and we'll beat them eventually." Uh, no, Ron, you'll keep losing.

DamoSpinDamien Cox
Wonder if Wilson starting to hear Carlyle footsteps now?

DamoSpinDamien Cox
Interesting. More Leaf koolaid drinkers blocked, more other followers join. Methinks there's a connection.

One more reason to like James Reimer: his honesty. Perhaps he could explain the concept to his coach.

@DamoSpin with all due respect damien try decaf.

DamoSpinDamien Cox
@HennyTweets With all due respect, dedicated homers shouldn't lecture anyone. Have a nice day.

HennyTweetsPaul Hendrick
@DamoSpin not a lecture damien. Forget the homer tag. I approach my job with respect for all 30 teams.

DamoSpinDamien Cox
All I can tell you is JP Ricciardi's road outta town started with one ridiculously obvious lie.

coachrw63Ron Wilson
Favorite movies: Liar,Liar; The Invention of Lying; Big Fat Liar. HaHa!

DamoSpinDamien Cox
Even better than the lies are the over-compensating explanations afterwards. As previously said, these guys are consumed with the media.

DamoSpinDamien Cox
You might think after having their asses handed to them twice by the champs they'd have more pressing matters on their minds. Guess not.

Yep, lots of former coaches, GMs. RT@LeafsBB20: I love the quote about the liars in sports. Many gainfully employed in the media.

The Son Also Rises. Chuck Fletcher early favourite for GM of the year. And a classy guy with lots of integrity, too.

You may think Wilson & Burke are being childish as well, but how often can you take reporters constantly bashing you, calling for your head, ripping you in the media?  It seems Cox (and Steve Simmons) do their best to try and alienate themselves from all things Leafs.  I don't see many other reporters having these sorts of issues dealing with the team.  Sometimes I think they're doing it for more readers, as the old saying goes "no press is bad press", but I don't know of any Leafs fans who actually enjoy reading Cox or Simmons.  So if you alienate the very fans you're writing for, what good are you doing?

Here's the heart of the issue for the media:

Wilson Friday media scrum on the starter for Saturday (fixed this link):
http://podcast.tsn.ca/tsnradio/Wilson%2012-2.mp3
1st Media question: "Have you given any thought to starting Reimer tomorrow?"
"Well we've talked about it. But more than likely it's going to be Gustavsson .."
Media: "Is there some kind of morning evaluation or are you being definitive?"
"I'm not being definitive about anything but we've told Gustavsson that he's going to be playing tomorrow."

Following that media scrum, on TSN that afternoon/evening, Jonas Siegel reviews that exchange:
http://podcast.tsn.ca/tsnradio/JonasSiegel_Dec2nd.mp3
acknowledging Wilson's uncertainty and discussing whether he will start Reimer, etc.

In spite of Wilson saying "more than likely" and "I'm not being definitive", many in the media like Cox & Mirtle took Wilson's comments as an absolute and that because Wilson started Reimer, they've declared Wilson a liar.

There is an interview with Jame Reimer that was posted after Wilson's media scrum on Friday.  He discusses the pros and cons of both starting or sitting on the bench as backup.
http://podcast.tsn.ca/tsnradio/Reimer%2012-2.mp3
He also talks about how ready he is to play (which may have influenced Wilson when he heard it after his media scrum) . Is Reimer a liar too?

Is Burke a liar too?
LeafsBB20Brian Burke
Our Coach told the media the starter. He told me as well. James says he feels good and our Coach makes the switch...

In the Saturady media scrums, practice ice in NY was hard to come by. So they went to Central Park with the Dads. In Wilson's opinion, that practice setup wasn't a good one for Reimer - he wanted him to have a good practice & routine prior to his game. That factored into Wilson's reasoning for the switch.

Siegel understood Wilson was not definite from the same media scrum the others attended. Others in the media did not catch that. Because some in the media did not, some have  decided to label Wilson a liar.

I've had a number of exchanges with members of the media on this and none of them have been able to establish 'definitively' that Wilson lied.

I have no problem with Burke backing his coach on this.

They seem to be angry because apparently Wilson told them on Saturday that he had made the decision to start Reimer "three days ago."

Honestly wouldn't be surprised (nor would I care) if he said that just to make them angry.

Must go digging everywhere for other sources does young Damien.

Except when it is reporting someone's death.  And then you just post the first thing you hear, no confirmation required, and then refuse to apologize after for your "honest mistake."

So glad I don't follow him on Twitter.

I've heard Cox rant and rave on the radio how he can't stand Wilson and his personality and that Wilson is the least bit "warming".  I just don't get why Cox and the rest of the media feel this sense of entitlement that they should be in the know about everything.  The majority of these guys throw Wilson, Burke and the team under the bus every chance they get in print and on air, and they expect to be given the utmost respect?  The real people who should stop being slimeballs are those in the media.
