Leafs @ Sabres - Nov. 29th, 7:30pm - LeafsTV, TSN 1050

The Leafs definitely seem to be trending towards being poorer at the end of games.

Is it a fitness and conditioning thing?

Fraser and Ranger leading the defence in ice time, because . . . science?

I'm really starting to think we don't have a defenseman problem as much as we have an offensive zone presence problem.

All that quick-strike stuff, and the lack of a cycle game really exacerbates the defensive zone shortcomings.

Well MacArthur-Grabovski-Kulemin was a great cycle line the vast majority of their time here.  I truly think losing Grabovski-MacArthur has hurt this team offensively.

Grabovski spent roughly 0% of his time on the ice in the offensive end last year. This year, the rest of the team picked up where he left off.

Macarthur, however, I agree with. He's better than Clarkson in literally every facet of his game and had great chemistry with Kadri.

they just get outworked but can mostly hang around because of their skill

except against columbus

when was the last time they just ran away with a game?

Last season isn't a fair indication of the offense due to their unsustainable SH% of 10% in a short season.

But Grabovski was never in the offensive zone because Carlyle gave him defensive minutes not suited to his skill set.  It's not fair with Grabovski's body of work with the Leafs to disregard what came before and judge him on a 48 game, short season.  Look what he's doing this season - back to basically doing what he did before Carlyle buried him in the Leafs end every shift.  But, as I've said before, even with Grabovski's down season offensively and tough defensive minutes he still managed put up even-strength points just under what Bozak put up on the top line.

That line was exceptional at cycling the puck, an great at scoring at even-strength.  Both players are missed in the team's offense.
