Leafs @ Sharks - Jan. 15th, 10:30pm - TSN, Fan 590

I don't think we need to jump off the cliff with negative outlook, obviously the new system is being implemented and the team is buying in and for the most part raising possession and cutting down shots against.  I think they have had a bit of bad puck luck in the last two, but when you consider we have lost, basically our second line to injuries, the difference that Lupul, Holland, Komorav would have made to the last two games outcomes probably would have been significant. We have two or three really great defensive prospect, Nylander and one whole draft to go through to compliment this team in 16, with good coaching and a healthy team I don't think we are all that far off, certainly nothing to have a really negative Wednesday AM.

I think we're alright long term as well. This team better find a way to master Horacheck's system soon though, or they will be on the outside looking in, come playoff time.

Before we read more "at least before they blah blah blah puke puke puke":

@SkinnyPPPhish

Leafs were 1-3-0 in Carlyle's last 4 games, 1-3-0 in Horachek's first 4

GF/GA in Carlyle's last 4; 7/14 GF/GA in Horachek's first 4; 7/14

SF/SA in Carlyle's last 4: 100/138 SF/SA in Horachek's first 4: 112/91

Yes defensively better. We need some goals, so playing defense has something to protect.

Well they've shot slightly more so that should even out soon. They're just playing better teams, simple as that.

The Leafs are currently 2 points out of a top ten draft pick.  By the end of this road trip, they might just be there.  Go Leafs??  :-\

Kessel with 0 goals at even strength in the last 13 games (the 3-10 stretch after the 10-1-1 stretch).  He has just 2 goals on the pp in this stretch.

I remember a similar stretch at the end of last season when we went into the swoon.  He is the definition of streaky, and unfortunately this team isn't deep enough to overcome it, and the team depends on him for ultimate success.

Most players are.  Maybe guys like Crosby aren't.

Also, his value is more than just scoring or not scoring.

Not according to John Shannon. He has virtually no value in the NHL. 'Who would want him' he kept saying. 'Sure he can score goals but so what'.

Canada's most listened to sports show folks.

Not renowned Leaf hater/Canucks homer John Shannon! Say it ain't so, Joe! Say it ain't so!

Prediction.  Leafs trail 2-0 in the 3rd period.  Everyone goes to bed angry.  We wake up to a 4-2 win.

Since were playing the Sharks, there's this:

I hope the team donates some portion of its profits to keeping the real thing alive.
