Official Music Thread

I feel compelled to share how good Daniel Romano is with all of you.  He used to front Attack in Black and has been focusing on his solo career the last few years.  This is truly an amazing song, though I'll open admit my bias for (real) country music.  If there's a pedal steel, I'm game.

Diggin the new Muse album.  Good tunes but I'm hearing George Michael, queen and radio head tunes in there.  Sometimes quite blatantly though, overall a pretty good cd.

Pretty sure he already cleared the air about all that.  He really just can't stand Obama and I don't blame him.

Well, A) that post is two months old and B) there's really no "air" that needs to be cleared after you say stuff like that.

Neil Young & Crazy Horse do their Ontario shows in November and I don't get home until mid-to-late December.  >:(  Other than seeing Neil Young live, which I've done, my other big dream gig is Neil with Crazy Horse.  First time in 9 years and I'll miss them by a month.  >:(

I was lucky enough to have caught one of the shows two weeks ago. I say lucky because I had a connection that gave me a free ticket just days before the concert.

Face value on the ticket was $183.. 😳 I was shocked. I was sitting halfway back in the lower bowl... That is way too expensive.

From what I looked at for curiosity sake, there were tickets as low as $60ish.  The tickets for the GA floor I think were that low - which is where I'd want to be anyways.

Most shows by big names are ridiculously priced it seems.  But then again, I read an article about Neil Young's shows in New Zealand in 1985 - and how there was uproar in NZ about ticket prices being $25 for artists and it being too high.

Speaking of Neil Young, has anyone picked up his "autobiography" titled Waging Heavy Peace?

I've been a fan of Neil's for too many years but that book is one of the most boring things I've ever read. It's like he just typed in anything that popped into his head at any given moment.

I really hope Pono happens though. It seems as though it'll be great.

I love it.  It's not a typical autobiography and it's weird and strange and left-turny like most of his career has been.  Wouldn't have it any other way.

It's weird because I have friends that see it your way and others that see it the way I do and we're all fans of the guy. Out of all the things I've seen Neil do, this is definitely one of his most love it or hate it type of moves.

I'm not saying it's the worst thing I've ever read but I'm having a hard time with it and if it were anyone else's book, I probably would have given up by now. I'm half way through and I'm hoping it gets better but I can't help my eyes glazing over when he starts talking about another car.

From reading online opinion, it seems like the hardcore fans love it, while the less-so are either baffled or just don't like it.  Typical Neil.

It's also sort of a companion piece (or the other way around) to his new album.

Rihanna in Toronto...

On the night of Nov. 15, RiRi showed her love for Toronto by performing at the Danforth Music Hall, which was revealed as the surprise location on Thursday morning, and opened the evening packed with her hits, saying, "This is incredible! Thank you very much for your patience. You really make me feel loved here," after she was late starting the show.

....the artist tweeted out her feelings for the only Canadian stop on her "777 Tour," writing, "Majah show tonight in Toronto, thank you for the love!!

Not really related to anything, but I just heard this song again for the first time in years. I'm not a fan of the red hot chili peppers, but I really like this song.

Pearl jam announced 2 shows in north America. One in Chicago, one in London Ontario.

Tickets went on sale this morning. I tried to get one single ticket for the show in London but as you could imagine demand was through the roof and I was unsuccessful. Apparently the show sold out in 4 minutes. I was in a virtual computer line for over 30 minutes.

Anyone watching the Grammys on Sunday?

Canada's singing diva Melanie Fiona is up for a nomination (song).  She is Guyanese-Canadian, is managed by Jay-Z and has written for Rihanna.

Read an article recently on three other Canadian singers -- Divine Brown, Tamia Hill, and Jully Black.
Of these three, Jully Black was featured in Alive magazine (Canada's health magazine available free in health food stores), and she spoke about the need to keep fit, eat well and keep healthy and how it helped her overcome a few problems.  Good for her.

The Kinks are the Village Green Preservation Society is one of the most underrated rock albums ever.
