Yeah, this is where I'm at. It's a learning process for most of them. I think playing Boston gives them a better picture of what it takes at the next level. We're hanging in there and I don't think Boston has had an easy time of it. I hope we take another game out of them and soften them up for the Sens (I think Pit is going to crashout hee hee). We just don't have the skill and depth yet. Enjoying it while it lasts.bustaheims said:Iafrate said:You know I'm just not angry about this... The bruins are a good tough team, and the leafs are holding their own against them...
This reminds me of the 91 jays that got spanked by the twins. The jays were a good team but there was just a player or 2 missing to push them over the top. I think this a preview of better days to come.
I kind of feel the same way. I didn't really have high expectations for the team going into the playoffs. As long as they didn't get embarrassed, I was going to be content with their performance - and they certainly have not been embarrassed, as far as I'm concerned. This only a step in the process.

Maybe, maybe not. You never know what the future holds in store for you.

The entire premise of the Leafs making the playoffs this year was to gain experience and mature as players. You are seriously going to say they won't be better next year? Unless half the team gets hit by a friging bus they will be better next year and I feel bad for the team who gets them first round.

I too would prefer Holzer. The guy is raw and makes mistakes like a rookie does but he appears intelligent with a better outlet pass than O'Byrne. Holzer has more potential upside than those two and probably have benefitted from some playoff experience.gunnar36 said:Not really Phaneuf's fault totally. He took out his player so it should have been man to man coming back. I am sick of O'Bryne, give me Komisarek or Holzer instead.

But as much as that might be the hope the reality of the new NHL isn't quite as linear as that. Teams fluctuate up and down year to year. If the Leafs had an unbelievable group of NHL ready prospects or guys coming back from injury then it'd be a safer bet but there really is no way to know if the Leafs will be able to build on this.
