McLaren-McClement-Orr. Is Carlyle seriously going to keep putting this kind of crap on the ice. Its no wonder we cant win any more.

I don't understand it.  The Sharks aren't tough.  They don't take any penalties.  They score a lot.  And they are highly skilled.

This is exactly the type of game where you SIT the Mclarens and Orrs of the world... not play them both.

McLaren has also sat for 4 straight games. He's getting back in against what happens to be his former team.

He can sit for 5 in a row.  I don't see an issue.

I suppose it being his former team might help him elevate his game and generate a shot or net or something.

Why do I feel like were jumping in the south pacific tonight with cut legs, and yelling pick me! pick me!.

That was one of your best posts ever.  Made me laugh.  Well done.

I love watching the Leafs, but tonight I feel like it would be better served if I tuned into something that wont hurt so much. I am starting to not like Carlyle.

Re-reading my post it does sound a bit like I'm trying to justify Randy's decision here, so I just want to clarify that I'm definitely not.

I think it's insane that Randy was fine sitting McLaren for 4 straight but when his former team comes to town he gets his spot handed back to him just like that.

So Carlyle says he's upset that Clarkson playing with Smith was seen as a demotion because Smith has been one of our highest scorers recently.

Yet after 5 points in 4 games Carlyle scratched Smith for 2 games.

And then gave him 3:29 of ice-time in his first game back.

Also known as a "promotion."

Insanity like this seems to be due to Carlyle's insistence that players fit certain roles.  As soon as any skill guys come off injury he scratches somebody who can actually play the game in order to keep the goons.

It seems like you could give an all-star team plus Orr and McLaren and he'd scratch two all stars to make room for those guys.  Obviously I think this is the wrong way to go, no-skill goons don't win hockey games anymore, this isn't Don Cherry's coaching era anymore if it ever really worked.

You know we're into dark days when even nutman is ripping the team.  :-\

And yet the team is still above .500, much better than they were for the past decade. Strange times.

Please just compet this evening. Who ever starts in net will have to be outstanding. Any news on Fransen this evening?

The team has been at records similar to this in other seasons at this point.

Carlyle said Franson is a game-time decision for tonight. He skated this morning and was receiving treatment from training staff afterwards.

.500. Playoffs. Keep using these words while you can folks. Maybe another week or two.

Leafs lost 5 straight at one point last season and people were talking doom and gloom back then as well.  We'll see if the wheels completely fall off this time.

Take away the shootout, and they'd be 11-10-6. A loss tonight would mean they've won exactly 50% of their games. In fact, at this point, they've won 11 of 22 games that haven't gone to a shootout. They're already essentially a .500 team.
