Is there a non slowed down version? I mean, it's kind of cheap but I really feel like that play is being blown out of proportion.

Give Laine credit a ton of credit here. The Canadians singled him out for extra post-whistle shots and chirping all game, and that was excluding the Perry cheapshot, and didn?t retaliate. Clearly, this is a player who has matured since being kicked off the Finnish team at the Ivan Hlinka Tournament two years ago for flipping the bird to his coach, then giving him a death threat. For kid who just turned 18 to show that kind of poise and maturity in the face of that kind of goading is truly remarkable.

I think you'd call that a trip not a slewfoot. Slewfoot is taking a players feet out from under them with their leg/skates, this seems more like it would be called a trip. I think the distinction is relevant as slew footing carries a much more dangerous connotation (and punishment).

You're right, I wasn't quite aware of the distinction. Slew footing is taking the skate out from under a player from behind, which could cause a player to fall dangerously backwards.

Maybe I was overreacting talking about a game suspension, but it's still making illegal contact that carries the risk of injury. I hate crap like that in hockey.

Powerful skating from the outside to beat the dman to the net, backhand deke as he crosses the front of the net and puts it five-hole as the goalie begins to slide.
