Tank Nation: Matthews Edition

Well, as a Reform Hockey Fan, I believe that the word of Wayne should be open to new interpretations based on the current realities of the game, and that not everything about the book of Gretzky is relevant in today's league.

Face facts, his 92 goal season was just an allegory. Look at the NHL.com scoring leaders. There's no reason to believe such a thing could physically occur.

Yeah, but what say you about all those witnesses that wrote about it?

Edmonton are playing Buffalo, Columbus and Winnipeg in the near future so there are definitely going to be some points gained by those around us. Here's hoping for some overtime wins.

One down, two to go (any sort of win against the Flyers would be good too)

The specifics aren't what's important. They measured things differently in those days. 92 goals from the Days of Wayne are the equivalent of 50 now.

Can we please have maple syrup with those burnt waffles?

As always, we'll eat the blue and white jerseys with ketchup galore!

Fixed.

Leafs are now 30th in wins, 30th in ROW, 30th in points and 30th in points percentage. Tank is rolling at full speed.

The end of the regular season is fast approaching on April 9th.  Two more solid tanking chunks and the Leafs have put themselves in the best position they can to win that damn lottery.  I assume the lottery will be held just before the playoffs begin so sometime around April 12th.  The goal is in sight.

I think last season it was the first Saturday of the playoffs.

I recall one of Babcock's late season post-game interviews where he was somewhat bemoaning that the Wings refused to take a hit in the standings to invest in their future a bit more with youth in the lineup.

Seeing a couple of grins from him when talking about the kids lately. He's enjoying the process.

The Leafs are currently sitting with a ROW of 16, and I'd swear they were sitting at 14 a good two months ago. Will they even break the 20 mark this season?

BTW: I played the simulator twice. The second play was 1. Ottawa  2. Edmonton  3. Montreal.  I'll never do that again.

Solid night for the tank. Sabres and Oilers win in regulation and the Jets have at least a point. Really only Calgary couldn't get it done.

McDavid really is a Leafs fan, he's encouraged the Oilers to let the Leafs finish last

This link got a little more fun now that we're at the bottom.

It's depressing to use this simulator and see just how unlikely, despite the fact that they're dead last in the league, it is that the Leafs will come away with the Matthews pick.  Dollars to doughnuts the g-damned Oilers win it again.
