3.  Quit trying to make trouble with this very subjective ranking.

Ennis getting the HM for scoring 2 garbage time goals last night made me lose trust in the entire thing.

Yeah, I was going to vote, but quite frankly, sometimes I wonder if I'm even watching the same game as a number of you. I know it's not scientific, and there's a fair amount of bias based upon what you expect of a player based on minutes, and opportunity.. but sometimes I'm genuinely baffled by some of the consensus picks, and the overall points clearly have little bearing on which have been the best players to date.

Wait a second...are you suggesting that different people have different opinions on who played better in a hockey game?

I voted for Ennis because he generated two grade A chances in his limited ice time in the first two periods, above and beyond what is expected of his lineup slot. That he put away two more goals in garbage time was icing on the cake.

Kadri and Zaitsev were also in the mix.

Rejected. Your vote is bad and you should feel bad.

Kapanen being ahead of Marner so far despite the latter having twice the amount of points seems a little wacky.

It's situational ethics.  Kapanen has more MotM-in-Wins.  We premiumize that.

Seriously, though, it wouldn't hurt if people said a few words about why they voted the way they did.  I do it sometimes, others do it too sometimes.  Just more fodder for discussion on this, one of the Internet's last remaining discussion boards.

Magic Mitch - set up a few absolute beauty's
Lord Martin - played great especially considering it's his first game in a while. Played much better than expected.

Head pats to Matthews and Tavares and Reilly who played like superstars should.

Matthews HM Rielly

Mentions to Marner Tavares Kadri Marincin

Demerit (Can't pick one tonight) maybe the fans that threw their hat for a non Hat-trick

MotM: Auston Matthews.  He'll get a hat trick some day.  (Not 4 ... 3.)
HM: M A R V E L L O U S  M A R T I N  M A R I N C I N !!!!!!  marmarmar 52

No.  Johnny Taranna.

In the interest of friendly discussion I'll just say that while Rielly was good and the numbers eye popping it's pretty hard to say he was hugely instrumental in any of the goals he set up.

I don't know about that. Setting up the Matthews one-timer and the stretch pass on the Kadri goal were both very nice passes.

I didn't see the Kadri goal so I can't argue that but while I guess the pass on the Matthews goal was nice(and even then I'm not sure it was a great decision) to me that goal is 100% Matthews. Just about anyone else gets that pass and they've got no room with a defender right on them.

You think that pass to Matthews wasn't a great decision? There were two Leaf defenders behind Rielly so there was no real risk making the pass. Also, goal or not, that was a beautiful pass.
