The room.  Where its been 2 years since your last regular poster (herman) joined.

Ever wonder why?  I see a bunch in 2015, but nobody who decided to stick around.  Ever wonder why?

Perhaps maybe the overall air of NEGATIVITY you guys create and seem to feed of?

That's the room I read, currently.

How is combating a perceived insult (even if none was intended), by being insulting not hypocrisy?
So the answer to your idiocy is to taunt the board? To be quite frank with you I'm ok with a new frequent poster every couple of years who posts with the quality that Herman does over a new frequent poster every day who posts self centred, ignorant and inflammatory remarks that, in all honesty, only worsen this community, not better it. I've been here for over 10 years,  and many have been here 20. If you don't like this community feel free to find another one that more closely resembles posters like you, because it's clear that the only opinions you care about are your own.

Case in point.  :)

Simply not true.  I come to places like this FOR other opinions.

But I won't be one to follow the crowd even if the masses here hold to an archaic belief that no longer holds true to new agers in today's society, beyond the fact that their elders told them it is so, even though it currently holds no personal meaning for them.

I speak from experience, not racism.

Hey hey!

My grandparents found/find rock and roll offensive, too.

So I never listened/listen to it when they were within earshot to be respectful.  :)

From Wikipedia:

"Jap is an English abbreviation of the word "Japanese." Today it is generally regarded as an ethnic slur among Japanese minority populations in other countries, although English-speaking countries differ in the degree to which they consider the term offensive. In the United States, Japanese Americans have come to find the term controversial or offensive, even when used as an abbreviation. In the past, Jap was not considered primarily offensive; however, during and after the events of World War II, the term became derogatory."

And please stop replying to people. Either apologize or stop posting.

I apologised as much as I'm going to.  And yes I agree its time to stop.
I didn't know doubling down on an ignorant position is considered apologizing, but maybe it is, from YOUR experience.

That I can confirm.  I was born one.  I came out mooning the world.  True story.

I'll add that not only did the poster who made m-gro so angry sincerely reach out to apologize to her directly, that he was also somebody so culturally and politically insensitive as to bluntly say (elsewhere and another time) that the U.S. should just blow up the entire country of Iraq.

Even somebody like that recognized when he had said something offensive, even when it had neither been directed at her nor had it been intentionally used in a derogatory manner.

Closing this thread temporarily. I kept hoping posters here would talk some sense into you TB, but clearly you don't really give a crap about how anyone else feels. Any reasonable human being would have at the very least just said sorry and moved along instead of constantly doubling-down on their dumb thoughts.

So a friend of mine who lives in Alberta just had a kid and I figured I'd send him some Leafs related baby items as a gift, so I head on over to the Leafs official site to go to their shop and pick some stuff out and go to make the payment and it turns out that the Maple Leafs official store is US based? And in addition to paying international shipping rates you have to pay what appears to be some sort of import duty on Leafs stuff?

The added expense doesn't bother me but that seems kind of tone deaf, doesn't it? Why wouldn't the Maple Leafs or NHL as a whole have a Canadian merchandise hub?

I went through and didn't see any kind of import duty, just the typical high Canadian shipping.  You could also try through the Real Sports apparel site, I would assume that would be Canadian.

Eh, I already bought it. Like I said, I just thought it was bad optics.

Assuming you aren't using VPN... Dunno if hat could affect it.
