I haven't watched it yet, but I already know Shuri will be my favourite.

The whole cast is terrific but yeah she stole every scene that she was in. Which is really saying something as she was often with Boseman and/or Nyong'o.

I think I will need to go out and get those Panther Gauntlets any future kids I might have.

I finally got to see Black Panther. It stuck the landing, even if I didn't care for the execution of the climax. They nailed pretty much everything that wasn't CGI, as it was a thoughtfully crafted character and theme driven film. I wish we had more time to see the world they created from the ground-level.

I know these things are largely meaningless but it was nice to see Roger Deakins finally win an Oscar after 14 nominations.

Well, there are going to be some angry podcasts tomorrow.
Isn't that a given after every Oscars?

I get what you're saying but I think the Oscars recently, and definitely in the last two years, have actually sort of gone in a direction that a lot of younger credits approve of/agree with. This is the first big Oscar Bait-y sort of win in a while.

The host-less Oscars were well presented (sort of) especially the Lady GaGa/Bradley Cooper duet, as well as the opening sequence with Queen/Adam Lambert.

Controversy has never been missing at the Academy Awards and this one will sure bring it on.

Can't understand why Glenn Close didn't nab the Best Actress category.  She was practically a shoo-in for the Award.

Oh well, some things will never make sense.

No.  But I know of someone who did and they found both actresses deserving of it.

The expectarions of many in the industry were that Close would win it.

Winning a Golden Globe (Hollywood Foreign Press) hasn't always indicated that a particular category winner will be equally presented come Oscar time.

So...you do understand why someone would vote for Colman?

I forgot to add that what I meant by the part about making no sense didn't really refer to Close, but in reference to the tweet.

Speaking of understanding, I have watched the Academy Awards for quite some time in case you're wondering.
