Toronto Maple leafs positive thinking thread.... Please.

A nice article on our future franchise leading scorer:

While i disagree with the majority of doomsayers, i will appreciate my involvement, however small, in the creation of this thread.

Chicken Little was supposed to be fun.

I have a lot of serious questions about Nonis' ability to take a club forward, but he has not, as yet, put a foot wrong. I would laud the Gleason and Holland deals as something of two miniature Roman triumphs, even if they worked out fairly well for everyone involved.

I appreciate that Burke appears to have instilled a culture of retaining talented youth, going the extra mile to acquire it whenever possible. I am especially grateful that the management change did not seem to change the course of the club, but i'm starting to think that was Nonis' job all along, once Burke got the sack.

Above all else, i am grateful to support a club that has the history the Leafs do, the undeniable position at the center of the hockey universe. I cannot imagine, what it must be like to grow up with a Phoenix Coyotes shirt on my wall, or to grow up hearing my father explain that the history of your hockey club depends entirely on Canadian ex-pats being shipped to Carolina for IT work.

I'm proud to live at the center of the universe, even more proud that this team appears to be on the right track.

Bernier with yet another good game.
Kadri with a pair.
And boy oh boy does Gleason take it for the team. I hope he is all right.

I was impressed by Gleason last night.  Maybe it was my beer induced goggles watching but I saw him make some very smart defensive plays, blocking players out and clearing the puck with ease from the Leafs zone.  He seems like the type of solid d-first defenseman this team needs.

Agreed. I've been saying we need a veteran defensive d-man since the collapse last spring. He's really fit the mold well. Any word on his injury status? He looked pretty sore last night.

He makes so many of those good little plays in every game it's really been such a hugely positive addition to the defense.  He is such a smart defender.  I haven't seen much of a mobility issue either, which is what we were warned about.

In the past the Leafs would give up a game tying goal with a minute or so left in the game, then promptly lose in OT or go to the shootout and not even score.  Now the Leafs are deadly in the shootout.

If he can contribute like that in the long term then it's a great trade. He is so much more solid than Fraser or Ranger could ever be.

Well going into the Olympic break the Leafs have gone 12-2-1.
Kessel Bozak and JVR, are playing excellently.
Raymond is finally scoring again.
And Bernier is Bernier. Enough said.
Bolland should be back after the break, so we will have our full line up.

I hope they continue there good play after the break.

By break you're not forecasting Kessel's thigh bone or something?
