Seriously, you'v like the anti-nutman or something for three days straight now. Just breathe, man. You'll live through this. I promise.

In what world is being the anti-nutman anything but the highest of compliments?

I would say this world, in which Keon14 was the ultimate anti-nutman.

Well, except in grammar...
Speaking of Keon14, I miss him. I would love to hear how Steen, Stajan and Colaiacovo would be crucial to the Leafs success right about now.

I can't blame Nik, I've had my share of days where I thought there was no hope in Leafs land.  Summer time always seems to bring some hope though at least for me.

I appreciate the support but I'm ultimately not informed here by anything other than a well earned skepticism. People said I was being overly negative about JFJ and the Raycroft trade too.

As for my attitude, it's as worked up as usual, which is to say not really. I just have no pathological need to pretend things is what they ain't.

Purely speculation on my part, but there were rumours that the Leafs were supposed to announce another deal yesterday, or the day before.  While at the draft, Burke was seen talking to the Flyers and the Predators.  I wonder if the second deal was for the rights to Suter, and that it hasn't been announced because Suter would not sign with the Leafs.

The speculation is that they were talking to the Preds about a deal that also involved Schenn.

I don't get the reference but wouldn't the ultimate anti-nutman be someone who arrived at a series of conclusions about the Leafs that were ultimately gloomy about the future but were well-reasoned and considered and based on an impartial interpretation of the evidence instead of a prejudicial agenda informed by their fandom?

You're reading way, way too much into Sarge's point.

As an ardent observer and less frequest poster of this site, I'd say your definition is generally correct.  But your reactions to the Leafs performance at the draft and in the JVR trade are not, I'd argue, based on a "impartial interpretation of the evidence".

Interesting.  I wonder what would have come from the Preds.

Am I? Gosh, I sure hope it reads as though I'm subtly mocking the ridiculousness of it.

So...I'd make a sub-optimal anti-nutman?

Either way, I freely admit that I am in no way impartial. I'm entirely motivated by my partisan interest in the Maple Leafs winning hockey games and my opinions are largely influenced by the fact that I actually want the Leafs to do well.

But it's so much easier to pretend that they are going to do well....

Now that I can stand behind.  My main reason for coming to this site and enjoying the diversity of opinions is that the scepticism is healthy and well founded.

Excuse my inability to read sarcasm, my wife tells me that at least once a week, by the way.

I guess the thing with me is that while I completely get (and don't have) a need to pretend things is aren't what they are, I just don't understand one's needs to beat whatever perceived realities of the situation are to death. If it's positive, great, we all can use some of that but if it's negative, well sure, let's chat about it if you want but let's eventually move on. Personally, it just gets so stale and if that's a reflection on me, I beg forgiveness from all... I'm just slightly tired of hearing/reading about it.

Terrific. I like to think that, in our own way, none of us are nutman.

Don't worry about it. For future reference you can tell I'm replying to Sarge sarcastically if I'm replying to Sarge.

For true polar opposite, yes, you may say that.  I was mostly trying to get in and old-fashioned Keon14 reference, which I guess was a little before your time on penaltybox.com.  Keon14 was nutman on extreme sour pills.  Like an angry Eeyore.  As for articulateness, well, no, that wasn't Keon14's thing, either...

:o The Twitterverse is exploding on the belief that Howson was offered the Islanders entire draft - Yes, Snow offered all their picks to move up two spots and Howson turned them down. I mean, what/who is nuttier? A) The rumour or (if true), B) Howson, or C) Snow?

If the rumour is true, wouldn't it have made more sense for Snow to make the offer to Edmonton?  Hard to believe that Howson turned it down.  Impossible to believe that two teams turned it down.

Both organizations are run by buffoons.
