Lots of people were asking for Moore with Nylander.  That's 1 option.  But we don't have much for the right side...
Bracco, Willy, Marner, Kappy, Moore, Brown all play the right side.

No, I absolutely don't want a repeat of Mats Sundin's career. Matthews deserves to play with another star player, you're limiting his playing potential otherwise.

I?ve been pondering if the Leafs should try Kadri on the wing and try to find 3C that also can PK. have Kadri and Nylander flank Matthews, and have Johnsson and Kapanen on the 3rd line with the new guy.
I don't see why they don't try Naz on the PK. It's obvious the guys/system doesn't work great so change it up.

I honestly thought the same thing earlier this week and I was looking at potential FA centres that we could check out but there just isn't money for it. And if we do clear up some money by moving Zaitsev then that cap space needs to go back into the defence. But Jason Spezza on the cheap was someone I was thinking about.

Spezza would be a huge mistake in my mind. He's got 26 and 27 points the last 2 seasons. Not good enough for a 3rd line centre and would probably cost too much for a 4th. Kadri had 44 in a crappy year. If the plan is to move Kadri to the wing with Matthews, which I don't see at all, it would be interesting to see how they fill that void. I think Dubas will promote Engvall to be our 4th line centre next year unless they feel he can play the 3rd but that would mean Goat is our 4th again? No thanks.
Put Willy and Kadri on with Matthews and all of a sudden we look like crap down the middle. This is also why I don't see the Leafs trading Kadri.

Man, I've been calling for Kadri on the left wing for a long time now.

Yeah, it?s slim pickings in the UFA market, but it may be something to look at in the trade market.

To me, the entire offseason hinges on one thing. Getting out of the Marleau contract. I mean losing Marner would be worse, but I assume they'll manage to keep him. If Marleau stays, the team doesn't improve much. If he goes, suddenly there are options available.

This could be Dubas?s chance to change up Babcocks coaching staff for next season...

EDIT: I would really like to see Keefe get his foot in the door with the Leafs coaching staff. I think being Dubas man, we might see a better correlation of the team Dubas is trying to assemble and how they actually play on the ice, than we ever will with the way Babcock runs the team. I think Dubas has a vision of how the coach should deploy the players he brings in and Babcock has a completely different approach.

One of my favourite photos

Watch Willy light it up.
I hope he does so he can feel good about himself again. We all know he didn't play to his capabilities and getting his confidence back will be good for him and the Leafs.

Auston is with Willy and Johnny is with Mitchy all year. Each 1C has his superstar winger, two first lines with their LW digger. Babs fell back on JT's line a lot, but this I think this is Auston's team now. He really improved his two-way game in the playoffs, and come September he's wearing the C. 3rd and 4th lines will sort out.

Fix the PP and PK (new coaches). I'd love to see Matthews/Tavares/Marner/Nylander/Rielly for 2 minutes (so they aren't rushed). Then just come back with Kadri's line when it's finished. 3rd and 4th lines can kill penalties.

Morgan deserves a partner now long-term, as Auston and JT deserve their star wingers. I think they work hard to get him a RD. Muzz and Zee, Rosen and Dermott round out the D. Sandin and Lillypad another year of seasoning.

Frederik the Great.

Go Leafs Go.

CJ mentioned the Leafs were after a big name RD at the deadline that just didn?t close out (there were multiple deals required to clear space and build assists for this move).

Who do you think it was?

I kind of think it was Trouba.

I don't think Winnipeg was going to trade a key piece given where they were.

I think it was a Carolina or St. Louis defenseman.

SHUG has 260 followers on twitter. I honestly have a quarter of that and I literally don't post tweets.
