All aboard the band wagon... were playoff bound.

Oh! And I forgot another thing.  The only way this pathetic team could qualify for the playoffs was in this idiotic shortened season with a million injuries all over the league.  It also happens to be the year that every Eastern team sh*t the bed and sucked donkey arse.  The Leafs weren't good enough to make the playoffs, it's just that every other team sucked enough to let them in.

So, does that make the teams lower in the standing less good or more sucky?

In terms of injuries, perhaps you have forgotten Lupul, Joffrey?

Still feeling the love for all of you. Even for Mot the Barber who called me a crappy fan. I love you Mot keep the passion.

Judt join the forum. The other one i'm a part of is having issues of late. I'm glad to see this team is playoff bound. I'm also happy Riemer is proving a lot of doubters wrong.

This is my first post here so I really do not know much about the posters here or where they are coming from, such as yourself.

Every team knew there would be a short season and therefore could make a sprint to the finish line.  Some teams were able to make adjustments and have a decent season and the teams that were able to adjust to injuries to key players that helped decide what teams would make the be playoffs and who would not.

In the case of the Leafs, benching Komisarek at the beginning of the season allowed other defensemen to contribute to the early success of the team.  Having a defensive system made it harder for other teams to have good scoring chances.  Remember seeing other players stand in front of the Leaf net while the Leafs defensemen were behind the net or just standing still???  The Leafs were more physical than most of the other teams.  Reimer played like a Vezina contender.  Lastly, Coach Carlyle instilled responsibility and accountability to the Leaf players that has not been seen in years.  It is for all these reasons the Leafs made the playoffs.  It has nothing to do with a short season or other teams sucking.  The Leafs were better than 11 other Eastern teams and a good number of Western Teams.

The 55 points the Leafs have earned so far is close to 92 points in a full season.  As a Leaf fan I am proud of the players.  They played with their hearts, played with desire and did not give up when there were times we thought the team would collapse.  To say the Leafs made the playoffs for the reasons you indicated shows me that you are quite oblivious to the reasons why the Leafs made the playoffs.

And one other thing.  No one gave the Leafs a chance of making the playoffs at the before the season.  Everyone thought the Leafs would be near the bottom, including myself.

Welcome to the site but if you prorate the leafs season it is 100 points.

My apologies, but I was assuming the Leafs lose their next 3 games, so the 92 or 93 points would be their minimum points prorated to 82 games.  But it is quite possible and I hope it happens, if the Leafs win their final 3, that would be 104 points prorated to2 games.

I did. So did a few people around here.

Montreal plays NJ tomorrow and Winnipeg on Thursday, If they lose one of those in regulation and the leafs win both of their games in Florida. Saturday's finale against the Habs will be for home ice. Assuming the Bruins can stay ahead of the Habs, that is.

Just checked the standings, Leafs are still in.  (I'm worried some authority figure will come along and take away the spot)

I believe Kerry Fraser is no longer employed by the league.

The ref who called that goal back on Saturday is working on something as we speak.

all we need is a 20 game win streak, and all will be well in Leaf land.

19 wins in a row is enough for me.  We can drop game 1 of next season even though we'll be celebrating the raising of the banner.  ;)

No, nutman's right this time. 20 games. 21, if you want to include next season's opener. Though, I'd be quite happy to settle for 18 of the next 19.

18 of 19?  What if the Leafs win the last 3 games of this season, then there's only 15 of the next 16...WHAT HAVE YOU DONE???

I have faith that they'll then win 1 of the remaining 3.

Watched an old playoff video and it made me misty eyed.  Might as well post great Leafs playoff memories here.

The smile on Pat Burns after that goal.
