Finally! Season Opener Leafs at Habs - Saturday - CBC 7:00 PM

Was it the Habs we blew away over 2 periods last year in the home opener then crapped the bed in the 3rd against?

I'm saying nothing til this game is over!

If the Hotstove got rid of Healy and Friedman and just had Weekes and Stock arguing, it might be something I look forward to.

That's fine Healy, Gillis can hold on to Luongo as long as he wants - until he has to buy him out next off-season.

I really hope Weekes and Stock aren't going to be mainstays on the Hotstove. Weekes is an ok guy, but neither of those are the insider types that you expect on that segment. And Glen Healey has been just awful.

I think Weekes has really improved over the years -- much more confident in his delivery.  Stock is almost Cherrylike in his inability to create an English sentence.  Friedman got fat.  Healy needs a choker chain, but at least he can make a coherent point.

Good looking third line. JVR looks a bit pensive at times, Kadri is flying and Komarov is doing all the little things you like to see.

Im just surprised at how well the Leafs have held the Canadiens in check. Very few odd man rushes, very responsible, not too scrambly.

They aren't perfect by any means but their overall game and strategy looks a lot different from last year so far.

Like I said, I like Weekes. He's a good colour commentator, and like you said has improved leaps and bounds from when he first started. But he's just doesn't seem like the kind of guy who is going to provide inside information on the P.K. Subban contract negotiations. He's just not connected in that sense.

Yea, it hasnt been the same since Davidson left.
I liked the old 2003-2006 hot stove the best. Any combination of John Davidson, Eric Duhatschek, Pierre Lebrun, Scott Morrison, and Kelly Hrudy were great.

It's really a shell of its former self.
