Game 4: Islanders at Leafs - LeafsTV 7:00 PM

Credit to Nabokov.  He stepped up after the 1st period and made a few big saves.  The Leafs got none tonight and it shows in the box-score.  I'd really like to see the team have an actual goalie for once.

I'm going on record right now saying that this will be the worst loss of the season. Even when they lose 16-2 to Boston, this will still be worse.

This.  Look what a good game from Reimer against Pittsburgh did to the team.  I'm not counting him out yet.  Scrivens, however, I don't have much faith in.

I'm not going to be able to complain about the puck over the glass penalty anymore.  I think it is only ethical to complain about the worst penalty in the league first.

I've come to terms with the puck over the glass penalty. It's not going anywhere. This one, on the other hand, hopefully won't last.

I don't understand it.  It's not like covering the puck with your hand was some big, pressing issue.

No, anytime anything with him happens on the ice he gets ripped on.  Gunnarsson left the Isles guy to tap in the one goal without touching him, his name wasn't even brought up on this site.  I can't remember the number of times I've read angry posts on here ripping Phaneuf for not taking away the guy's stick in front on a goal.

Embarrassing night. Gunnar and Frattin with three points each, though.

I hope there aren't too many games like this - it is going to drive me up the wall listening to everybody clamor for Nonis to trade for Luongo and his crippling contract that could hamstring the organization for the next decade.

It's not just covering the puck with your hands - it's using your hand to win the faceoff. I'm okay with being a little more strict with covering the puck, but, pushing it with your hand on a scrambled draw? Why is that suddenly a penalty?

Make a great team like Pittsburgh look mediocre and a mediocre team like the Islanders look great. Go figure.

Frustrating loss.

Honestly you can only credit Nabokov because the Leafs were that much worse tonight.

I'm not a big Scrivens fan.  He seems like a really nice guy...and probably can be a reasonable 10 game a year backup for a team that has a Martin Brodeur/Roberto Luongo who can play 70 games for a million years in a row.  I just don't see him as a guy who should be getting 20+ starts a year.  And for a guy who supposedly can handle the puck, he's terrible at it.  Bad rebounds, horrible at playing the puck behind the net, etc.

I gotta say I feel like this will be a teachable moment for Carlyle, I suspect he will hold them more accountable for nights like tonight and I would hope it will go some way to making them less frequent.

It was just a string of bad decisions. Instead of making the safe plays they didn't. There was very little awareness to dangerous plays tonight from the Phaneuf play after the Tavares hit, to Gardiner handing it to Grabner. We can go on and on but really this was a D and Goaltending collapse. The offense did their job, but Kessel really needs to get a goal.

That Grabbo penalty really screwed this team up.

That's what we all said when the puck-over-the-glass penalty came in.

When did anyone ever make a post about how they were sick of players intentionally firing the puck over the glass.  It just wasn't happening.  And yet no-touch icing is still not in the rules.

And Kadri again sitting in the 13-14 minute range in TOI.  To me he has been the Leafs best forward all year AND has been productive offensively.  Why not give him more ice-time.  He should have better legs based on playing all year.

The only forwards that got more ice time than Kadri was the 1st line. He had more than 16 minutes of TOI tonight.
