Goaltending Showdown - Reimer vs. Bernier

Don't be surprised if Reimer takes the net back. All it will take is the team playing better defence, because his game is and confidence are back.

Wow! wont it be nice to not even care who is in net, knowing both our Goalies will stone most any teams, on any given night. Now all we need to do is figure out how to get the pylon to squeeze out them guys blowing bye him every game. :P

Yeah were going to blame our defensive woe's  on Dion. Gardiner and Robidas are both worse off then him!

Bernier says sometimes Carlyle tells starter he's playing & whoever that is will tell other guy; Reimer says that can be "awkward" at times

That's so awkward that it would actually be less awkward if Carlyle went The Bachelor route and gave the starting goaltender a rose.

That is odd.

It's kind of like in high school where you have to go tell a buddy that a girl doesn't like him.

That reads like a really weird and improbable scenario, if that is how the starting goalie is determined, it shows a lack of class on part of Carlyle.  It is either Mark is trying to stir up controversy or he has no proof that is how things are being communicated, that he does not know what he is talking about.

I am not big fan of Carlyle's, but I truly believe he tells the guy who is starting, then tells the other one he is sitting out, or he tells both at the same time.  But that is my opinion of which I have no concrete idea as to how this is truly communicated to James and Jonathan.

Mark Masters, to me, seems like a pretty unbiased journalist and seems very matter of fact. He'd probably be one of the last people I'd accuse of sensationalism or fabricating a story.

Video of both Reimer and Bernier talking about it.

This. Mark Masters is one of the fairest, most honest and even-handed people I know. There is absolutely no way he's trying to stir up trouble. It's absolutely not his style or his personality.

I take it back then.  Guess i am used to media people stirring up controversy with the team just to increase their audience.  The way Carlyle handles the starting goalie is totally absurd - I never heard of anything like that.  Maybe Carlyle should tell one goalie he is starting, that goalie tells the other goalie, then the other goalie tells the coach - hey thanks for starting me tonight - I am looking forward to the challenge and will do everything I can to keep the team in the game.

It seems to be working!

Maybe, but, one of the criticisms levied at Carlyle by former players is that he doesn't communicate well with the guys on his roster. This is just more evidence to support that.

But it is a really stupid way of naming the starting goalie.  It's better to have James and Jonathan together when Carlyle tells one he is starting and the other he is sitting out.  As bustaheims indicated, it wouldn't be the first time Carlyle was accused of being a bad communicator.  And just because it is working now does not mean there will be problems later on.

I really don't think it is the player's job to tell his counterpart that he is not playing. I find it very unprofessional. Maybe that is just me

I agree totally with you, but it seems to be working and Randy is toast soon. Lets see how we do against the best of the bunch in the next week.

What do you mean, "it seems to be working?"

It's stupid and unprofessional. It's working in making things awkward, sure, but it has no impact on their play.

I dont know about you, but I dont want Joe my counterpart to tell me he got the raise I did not. It is the bosses job, the same way that this is the coaches job to tell them who is starting.
