They released Fraser too he's just not made it out of the Leafs zone yet.

But more accurately they haven't released him.

Gotta give props for this one.

Apparently they also released molasses at the same time. It will be interesting to see which one leaves first.

Barring anymore trades, I think it'll end up with this on opening night:

JvR - Bozak - Parenteau
Lupul - Kadri - Grabner
Matthias - Holland - Boyes
Winnik - Spaling - Panik
Arcobello

Hunwick - Phaneuf
Rielly - Gardiner
Marincin - Polak
Robidas/Harrington

Bernier
Reimer

Yeah, I'm guessing that right now it'll be Boyes/Arcobello as the press box guys with Spaling being in that bunch as well.

Arcobello is the only real question mark for me I suppose. In the whole race to the deadline thing I wonder if Glencross might not have more value based on name alon but I didn't see much from Glencross either way.

Dang, I had a feeling I was forgetting someone. Thanks, Tigger.

I think Panik takes a few spins in the box with Komarov in the lineup. Not sure Arcobello makes it now.

Do you not think they'll carry the full 23?

I think they'll carry 2 spare D.

What exactly did Hunwick do to have first pairing ice-time?

He had good peripheral numbers playing for the Rangers and assuming Rielly-Gardiner stick together he's a better fit on the pairing with Phaneuf than Marincin.  That's about it though.  He really hasn't done anything to suggest that he will be any good in that role.

Do you think that's really the best way to use Harrington though? To have him #8 on the Leafs depth chart?

It's not written exactly that way, but I'd put him above Robidas at this point.

Fair point. Just going by the preseason lineups so far.

Leaving aside the tanking implications, #7 or #8 doesn't substantially change that question.

He's not really a top 4 guy. I don't feel bad about him watching from the box.

That's also assuming that Phaneuf is on the top pairing. Based on Gardiner's play, I think he and Rielly will be eating up first pairing minutes.

He's a prospect. He should be playing somewhere, not in the press box. He doesn't make the team unless he's a regular.

Ah. Thanks. I will read up on Harrington, as I've been thinking he was a spare part in the trade.

Revision! Per your feedback and more reading.

I split Rielly and Gardiner up because it sounds like they want to shelter Phaneuf in terms of minutes logged, but bump up Rielly and Gardiner use. They're both good enough to play the off-hand side when necessary, and Phaneuf tends to favour the right side.

JvR - Bozak - Parenteau
Lupul - Kadri - Grabner
Matthias - Holland - Boyes
Winnik - Spaling - Komarov
Arcobello
Panik

Rielly - Phaneuf
Hunwick - Gardiner
Marincin - Polak
Robidas

Bernier
Reimer

Prime callups:
Hyman, Carrick, Leivo, Bailey
Granberg, Percy, Loov, Harrington
Bibeau

I think that's the lineup as well.

Sort of unrelated, Hyman looked pretty good to me, but I think he's penciled into the Marlies lineup this season.

Also, if the Buffalo game is any indication, this team is going to be tough to watch this year.

If they split up Gardiner and Rielly it'll be Rielly playing the right side, he's much more comfortable there. Gardiner isn't a fan of playing his off-side. But all indications from camp are that they'll at least begin the season as a pairing.
