I agree with this. I think we only see one of JvR/Kadri/Gardiner sticking with the team to the end of the season.

I don't know if they'll be able make the significant moves that moving those players in season might be (especially Gardiner and JvR, who still have term left on their contracts), but I wouldn't be surprised if only one of those 3 is on the roster for next season.

Well, I mean, if nothing else they probably are going to want to add something more significant in the way of picks than the deadline bait on the roster is likely to fetch.

I like to think that they're going to want to add another mid-1st round pick for next year...especially since the Pittsburgh one is likely going to be pretty late.

I've been trying to come up with a decent trade scenario with Philly for their 1st + Provorov + salary dump (Lecavalier?) for JvR/Gardiner + Polak/Robidas/Panik, but I think that's a bit too one-sided.

I mean, I'm sure they will but we saw last year how easy it is to trade for mid-first round picks. Realistically with the guys they'll have on offer they'll be lucky to land any first rounder.

This is where Kadri kind of comes into play for me.

I like Kadri fine but remember people last year thought Kessel would easily land a top 10 pick and a Grade A prospect.

I'd hope all this talk of trading Kadri is contingent on his upcoming, entirely unreasonable contract demands.

It's a thorny concept, I know, but the hypothetical impetus for trading Kadri is actually cleverly disguised within the posts you quoted and, in theory at least, would have read.

By 105 points, that's your estimate for total offensive output, yes?

Sure, but with Babcock's new system they'll only allow 35. 48-25-9. Book it.

I'm going to be pretty annoyed when we lose 34 games giving up 35 goals total.

Glad Frazer found a team, even gladder it is not the Leafs.  Also Kadri really impressed me in the last game.
Looked like he is on a new level.

On the other hand, 48 shutout wins!!  :D

It's entirely possible that no one scores in the Leafs first game. And that it goes on forever.

That's not true. It'll only feel like forever. Eventually, there'll only be one conscious player left, and, at some point, they won't screw it up.

"That's it, we're going to Super Shootout. No goalies, and the next puck in the net immediately wins."

.....three hours later....

"Okay, the puck begins just touching the outside of the goal line."

We signed Brad Boyes for $100k less than what Ottawa signed Fraser for. Now granted, Fraser's is a 2-way deal and it seems like he's AHL-bound, but that's still nuts. How does Fraser get anything above league minimum at this point?
