Bozak's back check was pretty much the biggest part of the game tying goal last night. He didn't get an assist but without him robbing Inginla it was potentially 3-1 Flames and game over, instead it was 2-2 and game on. Add in his face off wins getting puck possesion for Kessel and Lupul and I'd say he was a big part of that, last night at least.

Well according to NHL.com he did get an assist: http://www.nhl.com/ice/boxscore.htm?id=2011020049

Agreed. Even tho he got an assist your point is well made. Bozak has been doing the little things right and that line is clicking. I would be hesitant to take him out right now.
I still think Bozak with Frattin and Army could be a very good line.

So what happens on D.  Gardiner if not sent down may find himself in for Schenn judging by the ice time handed out Sat night. Removing Schenn is not what i would do but I am just trying to guage RW's thinking.  I can't help but think Gardiner may get one more game before a demotion.

Gunnarsson - Phaneuf
Liles - Franson
Gardiner  - Komisarek

Franson moves to his comfortable side and Gards and Komi are reunited.

Schenn's ice-time was mostly reduced in the 2nd period.  Ron Wilson sent a message after the 1st and by the 3rd it was closer to normal.  He's not being scratched.

The depth in the system now is really quite impressive. Considering the candidates to be demoted, there's barely room for them on the Marlies. I have to think a trade is coming soon, even if just a minor one.

I wouldn't be so sure, IMHO he has been one of the the weakest of our D for the last handful of games.  Not concerned he is young and maturing but with the Leafs suddenly needing to take things to the next level and RW's job on the line, player development isn't the only thing at stake right now.

I don't see Schenn as a scratch unless he's banged up and I can't see sitting him while the Leafs are winning either even if they were considering it, fwiw.

In practice today Schenn is with Franson and Liles is with Komi. Gardiner is the extra guy.

So Schenn gets dropped to the third pairing and Komi promoted or do you see this as Liles demoted and Franson promoted. I would have to say Schenn is the goat here and this could all change tomorrow.

I'd say it's more about the Leafs trying to figure out the best fit with Franson being a right side dman.

I believe we are going to deal with this issue for a while, as long as we can't find a trading partner for Komisarek. Komi, while playing better, will not get a chance to get back into the top 4 IMO and that is more an issue of depth and good depth at that.

I'm sure Burke is asking everybody if they want him, maybe not shopping him per say, but certainly trying to gauge the value, if there is any right now. Komisarek is in Franson's spot the way I see it and that won't change until Komi is traded.

I'm sure they don't want to send Gardnier down and probably don't want Franson playing the left side, but until there is movement, were going to have to deal with it I think. Maybe 20 games in and a few tough injuries for some teams might change things a bit, we'll see.

And even then we still have Lombardi! Where would he play if not on the third line? We're just oozing depth right now, and you have to think a trade is coming sooner than later.

Oh and Bozie was something like 72% on the draw last night. He's really coming into his own on the dot.

So does this make Bozak a potential trade piece? Bozak & Komisarek for...whatever?

So what do you parlay those two into, a nice prospect?  They are not going to get you a first line player better than what we have and we don't want another dman so really a nice prospect or draft picks are the only thing that can clear the clutter.  Either that or those two plus our pick/s and prospect/s may land us a first liner worthy of stepping in.

Or we could just bank on Connolly being injured the whole year.

Well I certainly think we should wait and make sure Connolly outplays Bozak for that top spot, before we even consider trading Bozak. That's just my opinion and I know that others think we should just trade Bozak.

One thing I'm factoring in there is that I don't think the dressing room will take to Bozak being traded out of town either, the chemistry would be affected IMO.

Agreed. I thought Franson looked good last night. Add Aulie into the mix and you have a strong D and an extra even if Gardiner becomes a Marlie. Bozak is getting it done with Kessel and Lupul. If a trade happens it needs to bring in a top flight player.
