Tank Nation UNITE!!!

A different kind of Tank watch is on now too. We still need Nashville to lose the division lead in order to get the most out of their pick. Doesn't seem likely though. St. Louis is 4 points back, and they have 6 games left. Nashville has 4 games left. So the Blues need to take advantage of those 2 extra games and then finish with a better last-4 record than Nashville. A tie likely goes to the Preds.

Is there somewhere that easily describes the draft order process?

The only thing you can book is that the Leafs will screw this up by winning.

It happens every year when they are eliminated. I'll admit, I was getting sucked
in by the sucktitude but winning vs TB and the comeback vs Ottawa - both teams
that had an urgent need to win - has shown that they haven't changed their stripes.

Can anyone give an example of good fortune happening to this team?  :-[

30  SC winner
29  SC runner-up
28-27 Conference finals losers
26-23 Division winners
22-15 Playoff teams ranked by reverse points
14-1 Non-playoff ranked by reverse points + lottery result

You have to be realistic here. There is no way the team was going lose every game especially with player contracts coming up at the end of the season. Players need jobs next season. They have done just enough to keep them in the top five for picks at the draft. Mcdavid was a impossible dream.

Kidding, thank you!

It's the Leafs. Of course they can and probably will find many inventive ways to screw things up for themselves. It's what they do best.

It's also a double edged sword of criticism too.  They harpooned for not giving enough effort, and then get harpooned for giving an effort.  At this point the Leafs have guaranteed themselves a top 6 pick and are still sitting in 4th.

The fact that the Leafs are still on pace to finish behind Carolina should be telling enough.
Carolina has 6 games left and the Leafs have 5 games left.  The Leafs are 3 points behind Carolina but hold the tiebreaker in ROW by 1 so far.  Carolina has the H2H tiebreaker so if they finish with the same number of wins we finish behind them.

Carolina plays Buffalo, Philly (x2), Detroit (x2) and Florida.  Florida is essentially eliminated being 5 points back of 8th with 5 games left, especially with Ottawa in between.  Philly and Buffalo obviously aren't playing for anything.

Toronto has games against Columbus, Buffalo, Boston, Ottawa, and Montreal.  The Columbus and Buffalo games are obviously useless but the Ottawa, Boston and Montreal games all will have playoff implications.  It wouldn't surprise me if the Leafs go 2-3 over this stretch though so really Carolina needs to pick up 2 points out of their last 6 games to finish ahead of the Leafs.  That's pretty reasonable.

We can't do anything about either scenario

Shanahan and Hunter take in Crouse

Toronto Maple Leafs team president Brendan Shanahan and Mark Hunter, the director of player personnel, were in one of the sky boxes. There was lots of speculation the Leafs, who are expected to have a top-five draft selection spot come June 26-27 in Sunrise, Fla., were keeping an eye on Kingston?s Lawson Crouse, who is projected as a top five pick.

Let's hope Hunter was convincing Shanny that picking Crouse  early would not be a good move.

All I'm hearing is how much the Leafs need/want Strome. It would be pretty funny if they get the chance to draft him in the 4th slot, but trade down and pick Crouse. I think something like that would surprise a lot of fans, but you just never know how the draft is going to unfold.

Gotta scout that Nashville pick too.
