Gotta say, of GoT actors I'd nominate Kit Harington would be pretty low down the list. Definitely below someone like Liam Cunningham.

Jonathan Pryce would have been a good one too.

Or Conleth Hill but they didn't give him much to do this season.

Next year, I hope to see Lena Headey, Natalie Dormer, and Liam Cunningham up for their season 6 work.

It's also a shame that they couldn't figure out a way to nominate Aziz Ansari's dad for Master of None.

That'd be an awesome pick.

I can't tell if the Emmys nominators actually watched these shows.

These nominations are for season 6. Max Von Sydow got one in guest acting.

So I looked into that these Emmys are for season 6. This article looks at which people/episodes/directors and such were specifically submitted for Emmy considerations: http://watchersonthewall.com/game-thrones-makes-2016-emmy-submissions-reveals-final-synopses/

Interesting that Cunningham and Pryce weren't even submitted in the supporting actor category. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau was the only other one there.

I haven't watched season 2 of Bloodlines yet but I generally love anything Kyle Chandler does. Ben Mendelsohn is great too.

I think these nominations are technically for season 1 because of the Emmys weird cutoff point.

Just double checked on that, but these would have been for the current season as well. Season 1 received nominations last year.

I don't understand how Tatiana Maslany didn't win last year, and I won't understand if she doesn't win this year.

She should probably be winning in both the best actress and best supporting actress categories.

That clears things up, thanks. I know the cut off date is May 31, but I didn't know shows could submit episodes that air after that.

Sapochnik better win everything.

No idea how Modern Family keeps getting nominated for things. I absolutely loved their first few seasons but it's been pretty mediocre for awhile now.

Largely because the quality of TV comedies is, well, not good these days - at least in terms of those with broad appeal.

Its interesting about comedy though that all of the nominees, save two, are non-basic cable shows. Which shows you where the good comedy actually resides. Further, I would have put Fresh off the Boat in there above Modern Family, but that is just me.

Also, I don't know if'd categorize Transparent as a comedy.

Now that you mention it Mendelsohn being nominated last year rings a bell. I suppose I just SPOILER assumed that he wouldn't be in season 2 all that much.

Alan Sepinwall just pointed out that Show Me a Hero didn't get a single nomination which is something I shouldn't be surprised by, as David Simon shows seem to rub them the wrong way, but I had hopes for as it was full of semi-famous movie stars.

Good call on "Fresh off the Boat" Tim, my wife grew up in LA in a Filipino family a lot like the one in the show and they get A LOT of the FotB stuff perfect and it cracks her up.

I just don't know why Max Greenfield hasn't won more awards, rarely has someone done so much with so little on network TV, his fat Schmidt stuff cracks me up.

Schmidt might be my favourite character on TV right now.
