He'll never be a PPG guy, but he does a lot of the tougher board work/little things on that line, and he plays some PK.  He's certainly a useful player.

He's the only player on that line with any real defensive awareness.

Also a pretty good face-off guy - 52% last season, puts him top 30 among faceoff leaders.

The bottom line is, of course we'd like a better player at that position, but he can do the job.

On the first powerplay he turned the puck over twice with two horrible passes, then on the last powerplay he passed the puck to a player going to the bench, causing another turnover.  He hasn't been good.

First period of the first game of the season after an extended layoff. I'm going to attribute that to rust more than anything else.

I suppose that is the optimistic way to look at it.  This is just a continuation of his career, a marginal player who some how becomes a 1st line center..for multiple seasons...with not much production.

4th on the team in points and, surprisingly, 3rd on the team in hits by a forward. Seems like decent production to me. Surely, playing with Kessel and Lupul helped, but nonetheless he produced.

his 18 goals last year was better then stajan.

Can anybody else not find the ice-time summaries and faceoff summaries that used to be on the NHL.com boxscores?

I was having problems with NHL.com and Yahoo earlier - maybe they are just having problems with their site.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I mean the extremely detailed ones. NHL.com used to have a shift chart for every player that showed when their shift started and ended. They also used to have a faceoff chart that showed where each player took a faceoff and who they took it against.

Not so much a wonderful save as the leaf putting it right at the middle of the net where Price's pad was.

You're missing a few zeros there, Don.

I was only half listening, but did he say the owners won the lockout 8-2?

He said a lot of things - most of them incoherent, many of them inaccurate. I was referring more to him saying the owners lost $1 million in revenue and the players lost $800K in salaries.

Mid-season form there Busta...

Phaneuf has made a few glaring errors tonight too.

I'm getting a little nervous now - Habs seem to be finding their legs and the Leafs are starting to make more mistakes.

The other thing that's raising my annoy-level?: Colby Armstrong is almost looking like a decent hockey player. He was brutal as a Leaf.

Let's see if he can stay healthy first. :)

Yeah I still have absolutely no confidence in our goaltending. A one goal lead isn't going to cut it right now.
