Grabovski Bought Out

They'd be hard-pressed to fit Grabovski in with the rest of the centers they already have.

Yeah, I assume that the plan there is to use Colin Wilson as a center at some point which again bumps Grabo down to that 2/3 spot.

All of this can only mean one thing.  Bozak is going to end up with a career ending concussion in the first week of the season.

Or have a career season in points!

Don't you have a hat that you should be eating..?

I don't ever wear a hat -- that's the joke!

"I'm anxious to find out what Nonis will do.  I refuse to believe this money was freed up for Bozak, if that's the case I'll eat my hat.  There has to be a trade in the works."

Haha!!

They could use Grabbo on the wing - something I was hoping the Leafs would try.  His scoring touch is better than his playmaking touch.

Belarus TV-channel ONT reports Mikhail Grabovski will sign contract with #Caps today

His agent says he hopes to make a decision by the weekend. So take a Belarussian TV report with a grain of salt for now. It would make sense though.

Centering Chimera and Erat would be a nice fit for Grabbo

A Belarusian source is reporting Mikhail Grabovski will sign a one-year, $3-million deal with the Capitals http://ont.by/news/our_news/00107590

Chimera doesn't really play top-6 minutes for Washington, so I'd sub Troy Brouwer or Laich in there. Still, that has the potential to be a pretty good second line. It also seems to resemble the line he had success with here.

Told #Capitals still waiting for confirmation that Grabovski has accepted their offer but all is pointing in that direction.

Noticing a lot of people (not here) assuming Grabbo plays with Ovie.  Uhhhhh did Backstrom retire or something?

IMO, Grabbo and Ovie would be terrible together. Both want the puck, both are shooters.

Sorry just thought 'Grabovechking' sounded better then the 'Beagle Back Grab' line.

Backstrom and Ovie play on separate lines from time to time when the Caps feel like spreading out their offence. Last season Riberio played a bit on the top line for instance. And with Ovechkin playing the point on the powerplay it opens up another forward spot that Grabbo could potentially take on that top unit.

But as for your second point, I agree that they might not necessarily mesh for the same reasons Grabs didn't click with Kessel in their short time together. Although I still think they should have been given more of a chance.

Quick check of the schedule shows only 3 games between Leafs/Caps next season.

Saturday November 23rd will be the jumbotron tribute to Grabovski at the ACC!!

Who is going to score more points Bozak on first line with Kessel and Lups/JVR or Grabbo. I say Grabbo by fair margin.

What's your basis?

Grabo on a scoring line...
2008/09 -- 20 goals, 48 points in 78 GP
2009/10 -- 10 goals, 35 points in 59 GP
2010/11 -- 29 goals, 58 points in 81 GP
2011/12 -- 23 goals, 51 points in 74 GP

That's still not much of a basis for the question at hand. Over those four years Grabo had 192 points in 292 games, that works out to 53.9 points over an 82 game schedule. Bozak, in his three years where he was playing on the first line with consistent linemates, scored 102 points over 156 games or 53.6 points per 82 games.

When you consider that Grabo's best year, the 29 goal 58 point season, actually came in a year where he got the most ice time and PP ice time among centers on the team I'd say the basis for Grabo significantly outscoring Bozak as a #2 basically doesn't exist unless you figure Grabo's going to see top line PP time or develop a ton of chemistry with Erat and whoever.

You might be right about points...but you must agree that Bozak has a better faceoff %.Chemistry has to work as well. You gotta think that Carlyle wanted Bozak over Grabbo.
