Exactly! Well, maybe not so much with the "Big Joe" stuff, but, the league exists in one of two states - during playoff rounds or between playoff rounds.

Right on. Will he be the one who explains why they waited to announce it when other teams were willing to make their decisions public as soon as they made them or does Shanahan also have a vested interest in pretending he was right about an earlier prediction?

Exactly! Well, maybe not so much with the "Big Joe" stuff, but, the league exists in one of two states - during playoff rounds or between playoff rounds.

State A: During playoff rounds = code as 0
State B: Between playoff rounds = code as 1

What we have here is a Binary League ripe for digitalization.  This comports well with the hypothesis that the universe is actually just a simulation.

The former.  Shanny is all about sensitivity, even if these other clubs (I think you rightly referred to them elsewhere as "animals") aren't.

I know Washington's announcement certainly robbed me of all of my enjoyment of Boston-Detroit.

For the record, I don't believe the Leafs are holding off announcing a coaching change until a recess in/completion of the playoffs. If they have made a decision about Carlyle, I'm pretty sure we would have heard about it by now. Which leads me to speculate...

A) Carlyle will be given one more season behind the bench to make the playoffs and prove his mettle...

OR

B) Shanahan simply needs more time to make a decision on the matter. Perhaps he's waiting to see if more coaches become available as more teams get turfed from the playoffs.
