I was thinking more along the lines of him being available to teams who may be looking right now.  Personally, I would gladly take being in limbo if it paid me a comparable salary.  8)

I'm not sure how far along in the process the teams that are looking right now have gotten as a lot of the potential candidates teams will be looking at still have teams that are playing, and, my guess is those that are further along are teams that probably wouldn't have given much consideration to Carlyle any way.

Torts, McClellan, Hitchcock, Trotz ....

Put me down for Torts.  Loved that clip somebody posted about Thornton.  I don't think he can get us where we need to go, but the entertainment factor is off the charts, dwarfing Burke.  And as I get older, I want to load up on entertainment while there's still time.

Nah.  The minute after Big Joe hoists the Cup, Shanny will pounce.... It'll be "between rounds," just that the next round won't start til April 2015.

Uh ...  er, I .... I meant the cup into which players supply urine for the end-of-season drug tests!  Yeah, that's it!

This is interesting....

No head coach in NHL history has won more games in their first four seasons behind the bench than the 195 collected by Todd McLellan.

Fantastic regular seasons and only 3 playoff series wins.  I know something is inherently wrong with San Jose for them to continue to collapse like this but I just have a really hard time looking at that San Jose roster and figuring out why they can't win. Good offense, good defense, they are fast but all big.  Goaltending is really the only place I'm not thrilled with that team but no to the point of thinking they have bad goaltenders.

That's not really a cup you hoist. :o

Tell that to Gandhi.  I believe he advocated "drinking from one's own cistern."  :P  :P  :P :-X

Yes, but the cistern provides the water, it doesn't receive it after usage.

Forgot about Nonis being out of the country.

LeBrun "I haven't spoken to anyone in Leafs front office but the delay in whether drastic moves happen or not was bc Nonis going to Finland"

‏@Hope_Smoke

LeBrun "Shanahan is also taking his time and the Leafs are waiting to see who will be available out."

I know Nokia is doing poorly but did they run out phones in Finland?

I'm guessing he's not there simply for Finland's famous spring-time weather but actually doing some sort of work, so it's probably something they want to do when there's nothing else going on and has his full attention.  And even then, probably something they want to do in person together.

He was there doing some scouting at the U18 tournament that wrapped up last week. So, yeah, he was busy, and, if Shanahan is being thorough about this process, these aren't conversations you have over the phone. They're definitely the in-person type.

Plus he's there to nail down Aki Berg as Defensemen Coach.

I'm guessing not many coaches get hired to take over a team that went 49-23-10 the yeaar before.

Hey, Didn't someone say coaching changes didn't happen to winning teams?

And Raycroft can be the goalies coach.
