RC seems to have set a new record for speed at which fans are turning on him. It's like he inherited a contender and turned them into a playoff bubble team or something.

:-X

Don't you know? We love revolving doors: they mean more mediocrity!

I don't know... there were a bunch of us calling for him to be fired back in March of last year.  Check out page 1.  *runs away*  :P

I'm seriously beginning to think that the Ducks won because they had Neidermeyer, Pronger, Selanne, Perry etc and certainly not because they had RC.

All teams win the cup because of the players they have.

When you have Pronger or Neidermeyer on the ice every minute of the game that's a hard thing to screw up.

I'm not usually the negative guy, but I have this nagging feeling that Carlyle isn't here next year. A playoff appearance and/or positive outcome possibly changes that, but I just feel like anything less than a first round win and he's going to be shown the door. It won't be directly about theresults, but more about general coaching philosophy.

I think Eakins is Nonis' guy.  It's just a feeling, but I'm throwing it out there now.

Eakins will probably get slightly longer than Randy before fans are calling for his head.

LOL... I wish the internet and these forums were around in the Burns days. I bet folks would be no less blood thirty for the coach's head.

He must know that I'm on to him.

You guys were getting all up in a tizzy over lines at practice?

PRACTICE LIKE IT'S A GAME.  If you want to be a successful fan you treat practice like a game and give it 110% on your comments about it.  We like to leave it all out on the forum.

Yeah, maybe like 48 hours longer.

Nonis said himself that his connection to Carlyle was stronger than Burke's was. There's zero chance Carlyle is fired after one lockout-shortened season.

I know, but since then things have been very up and down.  Some of the things that have happened so far this year make me wonder if he lasts.  That's all.  Also, what Nonis says publicly and what he believes may be two different things.  According to many, he fought for Eakins to get the job last year over Carlyle. True or not, I don't know....

Agreed. I really don't get the disdain for Carlyle. Before the recent winless streak began he was a possible Jack Adams candidate. The Leafs should get back on track soon. I'm guessing Reimer gets on a roll, and the defense tightens up again. I don't see another colossal collapse happening this season. I still believe we are finally playoff bound this spring, and Carlyle will be a big reason for it.

So did Pat Quinn, btw.

Well, while we're at it the internet has been around that long too. I was just saying that Burns was basically in the same boat as Carlyle/Wilson/anyone today. Once the record soured, so did fans.
