Wilson fired, Randy Carlyle takes over

I agree, Eakins was the man. Sorry but I could not play for a fat old bastard like Carlyle.......Oh by the way...Whats Twitter?

Next best thing to us hopefully making the playoffs. Glad we don't have to listen to his crap after every game. Some say little too late. I say about a year too late or even longer than that. Also heard yesterday on a Vancouver radio station about his extension which as far as I'm concerned was a joke. What I heard was that it was 2 year extension. If that's the case Burke should've gone with him. Said it last week the one year was just padding his buddies pockets. Anyone else hear or find anything on the extension. Doesn't really matter now but would be nice to know.
It was one year.

Can someone explain to me how Carlyle's contract would work?  Do the Leafs negotiate a new contract?  Does that relieve the Ducks of having to continue paying him or can he double dip?

It depends on his contract - it can vary from deal to deal as they're not standard contracts like the players (the players are covered by the CBA - the coach is not). These days, usually, there's a clause that relieves the previous team if their fired coach signs elsewhere. Carlyle's last multi year contract with Anaheim was signed pretty recently.

Maybe Burke cut a deal with his buddies in Anaheim.

WoW... this got me blindsided... just finally had the time to visit the site today and bang, finally Wilson was fired.

Good news...

Rather stupid comment when you consider league's best coach this year is Hitchcock.

And Burke probably had some sort of a clause in it about making the playoffs if there was an option, etc to protect himself and the club.

Randy Carlyle is expected to arrive at Montreal hotel in about 10 minutes. Brian Burke and Carlyle will meet with team tonight. Presser tomorrow.

Oh, to be the proverbial fly on the wall.  Or, in modern parlance, the hidden security webcam that we know is built into the wall of all modern hotel rooms.

Hitchcock is a different kind of old B____d. We just fired one old Leaf defenceman, now we hire another....I just wanted Eakins to inherit the spot so I am in a bit of mood. Think on this...he has brought up half the team that will exist in the next years.
Why was Carlyle fired....because he lost control of his team like Wilson did....his players stopped listening...and by the way what is this thing called...Twitter...LOL

This is indeed good news. I like to think we as fans had something to do with
this.
Fire Wison, Fire WILSON

Pat Burns was fired too, goes with the territory.

Wonder how that big Matzo Ball is going to play out...

Maybe they'll hug it out over a trust fall.

Lupul is also playing left wing for the first time in his career. After the winger returned to health last December, Ducks coach Randy Carlyle would not play him on the left side and put him in a lesser third-line role on the right.
Carlyle said he already had Corey Perry and Teemu Selanne in the top two right wing slots but acknowledged with Lupul that "if we probably erred, we probably erred in that we didn't play him consistently enough at left wing."
"In my conversation with Randy, he said he didn't think I had the skill to play left in wing in this league being on my off side," Lupul said. "So he wasn't going to give me that opportunity here. And I'm not going to knock Corey Perry or Teemu Selanne off their right wing spot.
"So pretty much after that conversation, I realized that I probably wasn't in their plans here."
Carlyle commended Lupul for working hard to get back into action and said he's "he's probably in the best shape of his life." But he wouldn't respond to the winger's claims that he didn't get the opportunity.
"Players make comments," the coach said. "It's not up to management or coaches to throw any dirt one way or another. I'm just glad that the player is healthy and making a contribution."

...and he is a fan of renovating homes himself, in this interview from 1980...
