The Leafs won the head-to-head matchup, and they both have 30 Regulation-Overtime wins (and Toronto has 36 total wins to Anaheim's 35). Is it because Anaheim has fewer regulation losses? (35 to the Leafs' 36)
Head to head only gets considered by the tie breaker if they play in each other's building (they consider an equal number of home games for each). Toronto only played Anaheim once this year.
When they can't do head to head or they tie there, they drop down to goal differential.
I messaged with James Mirtle and he says that Toronto currently sits with the 5th pick and that Anaheim is 6th. He bases this on shootout wins not counting and the Ducks having more wins.....?
