Why do I feel more comfortable watching Scrivens in net after only one period of NHL play than I ever have watching Gus?

BTW I love the rookies initials too. Nice start to the bigs!!!
I feel the same way although it's only been one period. I think it's because it feels as if Scrivens is very calm, and keeps his position, and doesn't seem stressed about anything. He doesn't look nervous at all, it's like another day at work although this should be very special for him.

He is very calm. Almost 'Reimer like' in goal :)
Even though its only been 1 period, you gotta think Gus may be a little hot under the collar watching that calmness from the rookie in his first NHL game.

It's weird, when I first saw Scrivens, last year I believe, I seemed to think he was much smaller than Giguere, Gustavsson, etc... but it must have just been his stance.

Oh my that was a bad goal.  Joe Nieuwendyk on Patrick Lalime bad.

That was a fun game.

I'll never forget that goal. Either of his that night , they were pretty much the same hah

"Here's Nieuwndyk again, scores again!"

Totally the first thing I recalled watching that terrible Macarthur goal.  One of my fondest memories as a Leaf fan, second to (what I believe was) the game before, when Mogilny scored the winning goal.  I don't know why, but that always stuck with me.  I think it's when I first thought they might win the cup that year.

Edit: Though Garry Valk's goofy game winning goal in (I think) '99 was awesome, mainly because it was Garry Valk.  He had a good strong jaw.

This summer I had a strange encounter in which I ran into myself from the future.

"So where are the leafs by November this season?"

"First in the NHL."

"LOL , nice. Seriously though?"

Mason doesn't even have a glovehand, seems like.  This is the worst goaltending I can remember seeing in a looong time.

Bad goaltending, dumb penalties, no offence, not hard to see why this team has the record that it does

That was one of the dumber penalties I've seen
